Anaheim Trades
McTavish
Terry
Vaakanainen
LCarlsson (SHL)
1st Round Pick 2024
2nd Round Pick 2024
1st Round Pick 2025

Toronto Trades
Matthews
WNylander
Liljegren
5th Round Pick 2024

This trade proposal would probably be one of the biggest in NHL history, but it instantly puts Anaheim at a different level adding these 3 players.

Treliving wants to change things up as well as retool on the fly and still keeping The Leafs competitive this would do that.

Yes this would probably never happen but what an offseason trade to be remembered if it ever did happen.

Thoughts ?

Are we rebuilding? If the Leafs ever made that deal, I just hope they use lube before they bend us over.

I'd make that trade in a second.

I don't think Anaheim does this. They were so bad it's unreal last season. Taking pieces out of that and adding Mathews+Willy doesn't suddenly make them contenders.

And that’s the problem LeafsLife. All you see are the pretty goals. Terry got 23 goals, 61 points last year. I get it he is on Anaheim but come on. He can do the Michigan, congrats. McTavish with 40 something points. This would make us much worse now. Ya the draft picks are good for the future but we have a small window where we are in cup contention. Not interested in Terry at all.

@Clarky it makes you a worse team now, but also opens up another 6 year competitive window. It's basically an instant rebuild.

I'm actually not looking at points at all. I'm looking at 2 UFA's in exchange for many younger, cost controlled players, and picks.

If CHI was willing to trade Bedard for Mathews, would you say no?

Yep Anaheim loves it. Leafs get incredibly worse. Leafs are trying to win now, not in four years.

@Bob why would the worst team in the NHL lose this? They miss the playoffs, Mathews turns 30 by the time they even think about entering the playoff race, and then he wants 17m/ 8years.

@ LeafsLife yes I definitely would say no. Bedard hasn’t done rubbish in the NHL yet. Plus from what I seen he lacks defensive skills and doesn’t backcheck. Reminds me a lot of Nylander. It will take him a few years to become a well rounded player and leader.

It is obvious. This guy doesn't understand hockey.

@Clarky as you said, the guys that step into the NHL who are good at both ends of the ice, are unicorns. It just doesn't happen.

Mcdavid and Crosby were both atrocious to start their careers and got better over time.

I would never go looking for a mathews trade, but if he won't sign for a decent number, I'm not sure what else you do.
