Leafs are either all in or they’re not. If they are that means they’re willing to sacrifice top prospects. Packages for Trenin, Lauzon and Sarros; or Konecny, Seeler and Hart will have to include Cowan and/ or Minten, niemiela, and Nylander.

Samsonov, marner, Klingberg, niemela, Minten, steeves, Robertson, Timmins 1st in 2024 and 2025 to Flames
Markstrom, lindholm, Tanev and Hanifan to Leafs. Cgy retains 25% on Markstrom.

I don't think Reaves 8s meant foe this team/ coach as currently constructed.
Reaves was hitting and fighting to start the season, then promptly dropped off, and decided he needs to play hockey.
Klingberg I'd pay to get rid of.

Unfortunately I do not think it will be so easy to rid Leafs of all of Treliving’s mistakes.

Yeah I’m not liking any of those acquisitions.
I’m starting to question Treliving for his choices.
Granted hindsight is 20/ 20 but then I start to review his Calgary history and see a disturbing pattern.
It was a tough situation for sure when Gaudreau and Tkachuk wanted out so his hand was forced but his deals for both Kadri and Huberdeau were poorly constructed.
He learned a bit from that with 3 one-year deals with the Leafs.
I do like his attempt to secure players with snot and skill but all his choices are not working. Again hindsight on my part.
So he needs to get to work now, don’t wait because this division has a lot of playoff potential teams, and remedy the problems: D first, bottom6 and snot as he calls it.
Can’t trade Samsonov yet either, nor can he trade Nylander. Marner is a better choice.
Jarnkrok is not an L1 or L2 player. He adds some value in an L3/ 4 and PK role.
Kampf is a 4C and has PK skill, that’s it!
Knies works hard but hasn’t yet reached expectations. This may only happen next year.
And I’m okay with replacing Keefe now.

So here’s an example of a skill a leader needs to have.
That is being able to quickly weigh many possibilities and be able to see how one decision might impact another.
In Treliving’s due diligence he chooses Bertuzzi over the “devil-you-know” Bunting.
He obviously chose Bertuzzi who had one very good stretch over the last three years and signed him to a $5.5m! Boston smartly decided they couldn’t resign him. Glad it’s only for one year, his big lesson after the Huberdeau and Kadri deals.
In the last three years Bunting has played 172 games and has scored 49g and 71a versus Bertuzzi’s 61 games, 10g and 23a.
Bunting signs a 3-year deal at $4.5m.
Did he even speak to him or his agents.
Unfortunately changing Treliving now will change very little.
So he needs to get to work?

I can't imagine the Leafs making this deal. Yes, Boeser is off to a hot start this season, but he is inconsistent with his effort typically and it's not like he brings physicality otherwise. Garland is overpaid and down to about 4th line minutes this year and 3 years left at $5M per to boot, where Domi is on a 1 year deal. Doesn't seem like the Leafs are getting much to take on Garland.

Marner as delusional as ever. They are a “great team”…. are you really Mitch? Keefe bragging about how well they played against Anaheim and SJ…. awesome. Anyone who thinks Keefe is not a huge part of the problem is nuts. No D zone structure. No heart. Outworked almost every game . This screams Craig Berube. ASAP. Leafs legit will be out of a playoff spot when western trip is over.

Thankfully the Kane talk is over. He was never coming to Toronto and that’s a good thing. So much for him allegedly wanting to go to a contender. lol.
Leafs need to fire Keefe immediately. Hire Gallant. Then trade for two D and a goalie. Break the bank if you can get players with a year or two left on contracts. Overwhelm the flyers with an offer that gets you Hart and Walker, plus.

Everyone wants a goalie if you haven't noticed. Only maybe 5 goalies are consistently good enough to win a cup. It's about a goalie getting jot at the right time.

@RLF I had Knies moving up there at some point. maybe after Bertuzzieventyally got hurt. Domi I had on second line only to cover up any defensive deficiencies in his game. fid not want him as top guy in 3rd line. so by default that left Knies and Minten who seemed to gel on third. but with Minten gone Knies is right where he should be.
