I prefer to keep Nylander but if he is traded, I think something like this could work for both teams (position and salary):

To Colorado: Nylander and Lilegren

To Leafs: Byram and Lehkonen

$8,362,366 for $8,350,000

I don’t think I’d give Lily in that deal. Maybe go with Niemela and a 2nd Rd. Trade Jarnkrok to the Flyers for free cheesesteaks for a year. Would still love to get a big physical D that will play in the top 6.

I guess if nylander has a deal in place that is minimum 4 years with Colorado before trade and Colorado feels they can settle on good number in arb with liljegren and resign him to a multi year deal then I don’t see why not

However if nylander ain’t signed prior and liljegren arb case goes sour than Is 4 years of Lehkonen and my god 2 years plus a possible 8 years of Byram worth 1 year of nylander/ lili

Sure 1 year of rantanen Mackinnon nylander would be fun and i bet nylander gets 100 points and a 11 million dollar deal to follow so Colorado better have a deal in place before that or he will play his way outta colorados pricing.

On second thought if I was nylander and knew I got a year with mackinnon and rantanen I probably would sign a damn thing.

So yeah Colorado says no based on thst there no nylander signs a deal before hand. That one almost got by me.

Lehkonen is an excellent player but another left wing of which Leafs have an abundance.
If Leafs trade Nylander they need a right winger coming back to fill the massive hole left by Nylander’s departure.

I think the trade is fair: Nylander > Lekhonen

. but Byram is a huge improvement over Lilegren. Byram would be for sure the next Leaf quaterback.

Lehkonen is not close to comparable with Willy. Which is why Byrum and Lily are added. I hope Niemela turns into something too but I think his size will be a problem on the defensive side of the puck once he hits the big leagues. IMO.
