To toronto: Lindholm

To Calgary: 1st 24, Fraser Minten and Domi

Lindholm would be the perfect 3rd line center and could be their 2nd line center next year....sign and trade at $7M x 6 yrs.

I think Minten is overrated...this is time to trade him !

1.) 04 Jan 2024 13:06:56
True. Team Canada doesn’t know anything about hockey… Give your head a shake! Minten was a steal for a second round pick. He needs more development but he will be a welcomed addition to the leafs one day.

2.) 04 Jan 2024 16:32:20
It's so hard to judge prospects. I'm hoping for the best from Minten, butt who knows?

Wouldn't give up on a kid that age though.

3.) 05 Jan 2024 02:41:34
I would definitely give up kids of all ages. Team Canada should stick to lacrosse. What a joke!

To Toronto: Zadorov

To Flames: Klingberg
3rd in 24

I predict Reaves will be on waivers before Christmas....what a gift it could be !

1.) 12 Nov 2023 17:20:23
The gift would be Calgary accepting that trade.

2.) 12 Nov 2023 18:02:00
I think Calgary takes that trade for a third pairing D who they’re not gonna resign.

3.) 12 Nov 2023 18:15:16
Conroy having bouts of insanity?

4.) 13 Nov 2023 01:31:32
Both NJ Devils and Vancouver Canucks can and will offer more!

16 Sep 2023 13:33:13
I prefer to keep Nylander but if he is traded, I think something like this could work for both teams (position and salary):

To Colorado: Nylander and Lilegren

To Leafs: Byram and Lehkonen

$8,362,366 for $8,350,000

1.) 16 Sep 2023 14:59:24
I don’t think I’d give Lily in that deal. Maybe go with Niemela and a 2nd Rd. Trade Jarnkrok to the Flyers for free cheesesteaks for a year. Would still love to get a big physical D that will play in the top 6.

2.) 17 Sep 2023 01:35:51
I guess if nylander has a deal in place that is minimum 4 years with Colorado before trade and Colorado feels they can settle on good number in arb with liljegren and resign him to a multi year deal then I don’t see why not

However if nylander ain’t signed prior and liljegren arb case goes sour than Is 4 years of Lehkonen and my god 2 years plus a possible 8 years of Byram worth 1 year of nylander/ lili

Sure 1 year of rantanen Mackinnon nylander would be fun and i bet nylander gets 100 points and a 11 million dollar deal to follow so Colorado better have a deal in place before that or he will play his way outta colorados pricing.

On second thought if I was nylander and knew I got a year with mackinnon and rantanen I probably would sign a damn thing.

So yeah Colorado says no based on thst there no nylander signs a deal before hand. That one almost got by me.

3.) 17 Sep 2023 02:40:37
Lehkonen is an excellent player but another left wing of which Leafs have an abundance.
If Leafs trade Nylander they need a right winger coming back to fill the massive hole left by Nylander’s departure.

4.) 18 Sep 2023 15:22:54
Clarky17: Niemela will be better than Lilegren!

And you give a 2nd.

I think the trade is fair: Nylander > Lekhonen

. but Byram is a huge improvement over Lilegren. Byram would be for sure the next Leaf quaterback.

5.) 18 Sep 2023 17:13:33
Lehkonen is not close to comparable with Willy. Which is why Byrum and Lily are added. I hope Niemela turns into something too but I think his size will be a problem on the defensive side of the puck once he hits the big leagues. IMO.

Let's go for Kane (1 year contract at $3M yes it is possible !
Leafs can sign Kane (35+ contract)for 1 yr at a minimum $775,000 + $2,225,000 in bonuses performances. It counts for the salary cap but any amount over the Salary Cap is considered a Bonus Carryover, and counts against the cap in the next season.

Cap space: -$2,943,950 24 players
Down to 21 Gambrell + $775,000
Jones + $875,000
Holmberg + $800,000 (waiver exempt)

New Cap Space: -$493,950

On def: Timmins $1,100,000 for Benoit at $775,000
On wing: Lafferty $1,150,000 for McMann at $762,500 (yes Lafferty on waiver and if sent to minors no penalty ...penalty is over $1,150,000)

New Cap space: + $218,550

Robertson sent down no waiver required (or traded) at $796,667

Cap space available for Kane at $1,015,217

Kane at $3M - $1,015,217 = $1,984,783 will count for 2024-25 season bonus carryover.

Thought ?

Note: Oilers sign Connor Brown at $775,000 + $3,225,000 bonuses)
Bonuses for Pacioretty, Pavelski, Bergeron last year etc)

1.) 15 Sep 2023 20:01:02
Suppose I told you Robertson is better than Kane

Your addicted to name value I’m surprised you don’t want Kessel.

2.) 15 Sep 2023 20:30:34
Pretty sure I’d take kessel over Robertson at this point.
Kessel won’t break his wrist 6 games into the season.

3.) 15 Sep 2023 21:55:18
Slagging a 21 year old

Give him training camp

I put knies and Robertson first two lines

Jua let Matthews and Marner work with him then Knies on line 2

You then can load a third line

Domi Holmberg Bertuzzi

Bertuzzi Holmberg Jarnknok

Too many pieces someone gets traded.

4.) 16 Sep 2023 00:13:26
David 1 Mackin

Suppose I told you Robertson isn’t better than Kane.

Do you follow hockey?

5.) 17 Sep 2023 14:38:02
At this point can you say Robertson is better than anyone? He has proven absolutely nothing in the NHL. He has a ton of potential. But that’s all so far. I hope he stays healthy and scores 35. He may play two games and miss the next 30.

6.) 18 Sep 2023 00:36:43
If Robertson makes the team, stays healthy and scores 20, everyone should be happy. He wasn't a top 10 pick or anything. If Leafs can draft a guy in the 2nd round and he is a 20+ goal scorer, fans should be quite happy with that.

I will say again, I think he is bound for the Marlies.

26 Jul 2023 21:48:07
Great news today Murray will be on LTIR

Now not necessary to trade Nylander just maybe Jarnkok...

Now -$2,068,950

They have 14 forwards we cut Gambrell $775,000

Now -$1,293,950

Cut Timmins $1,100,000 and get def at $775,000 (sign Cal Foote or take Lajoie, Lagesson)

Now -$968,950

Cut Lafferty minors $1,150,000 and take McMann at $762,500

Now -$581,450

...and the only trade to make is Jarkrok at $2,100,000 for picks or...nothing...

Now +$1,518,550

...and sign at the start of the season Patrick Kane at $1M

Result: $518,550

Leafs Lines:

Holmberg (13th forward)

Just trading Jarnkrok and sign Kane a 1 yr-contract give 3 great scoring lines !

1.) 26 Jul 2023 22:35:15
So 10 million a year for a 3rd line winger with Matthews to sign and Marner the following. I love Nylander for the most part but I think the potential return for him will never be higher then now and the leafs won’t be able to afford these quality of players with upcoming contracts.

2.) 26 Jul 2023 22:38:05
Kane may not play until November and they don’t need him, especially if Nylander stays. Kane won’t sign for anywhere near 1 million either. Leafs need D, not more scoring.

3.) 26 Jul 2023 23:09:01
Amen Bob! All these trades for forwards, why? On paper we probably have the best offence without Nylander. We need two D in my opinion. Everyone has Knies and Robertson playing on the third line if Nylander stays. 3rd line should be your shut down line, don’t think you want to have 2 offensive minded rookies on it. One of these two needs to fill Nylanders spot while Willy gets traded for a top 4 D. Hanifin and Zadorov are two pieces the Leafs need to help Samsonov from getting shell shocked.

My ideal D:
Hanifin. Kling
Reilly McCabe
Zadorov Lily

Let’s see some trades for defensemen
Trade Timmons and Brodie.

4.) 27 Jul 2023 22:17:49
If Kane can be signed at a reasonable salary for half a season, yes you look at it knowing by playoffs he is in full gear. Though I would play him with Tavares who is also a sniper, as proven his 1 season playing with Märner & junior career. Tavares of course fancies himself as a playmaker, & below the dots that is particularly true but he is first & foremost a very gifted sniper could still score 50 goals with a Marner or Kane.
Add a damn like a Hanafin or go nuclear with a Josi, must be a consideration. Karlsson is a bigger gamble, with more possible upside or downside. Granted Karlsson extremely talented but last season was an outlier, not a career norm by any stretch. Reminds me of Kadhri his outlier season with Colorado, unlike any career Kadhri statistical norm so those outlier seasons, absolutely must be taken with a table spoon of salt when hoping for a repeat performance.

Nylander Matthews Marner
Bertuzzi Tavares Kane
Robertson Domi Knies
Holmberg Kampf Reaves

* Give Robertson every opportunity to succeed same with Knies, who fared exceptionally well before his unfortunate injury. It was Knies consistent good play & size made him a bit of a target ( he also responded well to adversity after a blunder ), with the Leafs lineup needing some more of a Domi, Bertuzzi & Reaves in the mix. So in that context on a team lacking physicality, maybe Simmonds should have been in the mix as Cherry stated. Though I disagree related to Knies & would have taken Bunting or Jarncrock out of the mix, rather than not putting in Knies. Team knew it needed more physicality & size, O'Reilly, Acciari & Schenn was a good attempt to address that, but not quite enough to get past Florida.

Ultimately Kane going to NYR was similar to Foligno coming to Toronto, player was not fully healed & playing hurt result is limited or no contribution.

Any team dismissive of the roster boost a healthy Patrick Kane can offer, is not worth their salt the pedigree & talent is undeniable. Neither would one think his competitive fire & pride in his play has waned, a healthy Patrick Kane with something to prove to bounce back a player not that far removed from being top 10 in the league. A fourth Cup for Kane if that is his desire, run with it with all your might fast. Stay silent strike quickly, get a deal done.

5.) 28 Jul 2023 09:11:40
I get it, you’re a Patrick Kane fan. We still don’t need him. It’s like having a team full of tough guys and all of a sudden deciding we need to add Reaves. We have enough soft forwards. Gritty D and depth will give them their opportunity if Matthews and Marner show up when it counts.

6.) 28 Jul 2023 21:50:59
@clarky17 Well said!
