Ekman-Larsson
1st Round Pick 2016

Toronto Trades

1st Overall Pick 2016

Arizona is selling the game to the fans what better way then getting there golden boy Matthews.

Domi and Ekman-Larsson have both proved they are NHL Players and add the 1st Round Pick from Arizona its a positive move for the Leafs rebuild even how good Matthews will probably be.

Thoughts?

If everything fell into place and thus deal was available I would do it in a heartbeat. 2 NHL proved players and a good pick. Heck yeah.

No thank you! Prefer to keep the 1st and draft Matthews! It will be iconic for the Leafs to actually draft 1st as well, something that has not been done since 1985!

Ask this, is Domi a top line player or somewhere in top 6? Matthews is sure to be a top line player, the Leafs need more top line players.

The issue why the Leaf failed with the previous team, of Kessel, Phaneuf and company is that they NEVER got a top line centre.

Domi in his rookie year has 47 points already. Not that one year can dictate his future career. And how do you know Auston Matthews is going to be a top line player. You have no idea about that. None of us do. A year ago we didn't know about him. Stop getting so star struck and influenced by the media . Results speak for themselves and oel and Domi to a lesser extent have them. 25 years ago the hockey world went nuts for Eric lindros. The flyers a massive package for him to then nordiques. They used those players and picks to turn themselves into the Stanley Cup champions 4 years later. Injuries and time wore lindros down and the flyers never won a cup with him. If you have a chance to really improve your team for the long term you consider it.

canada4ever, great reference to the Lindros trade. The key to that trade was getting Forsberg (a centre)from the Flyers. I'd definitely try to trade the Matthews pick to Arizona, but I'd want Strome, a centre, coming back instead of Domi (plus OEL and their first round pick as well, of course).

Strome (like Cliff just said) instead of Domi and it's a steal. That draft pick is looking like an 8th overall.
