When you fill one need and create an even bigger need somewhere else it's not improving your team. In the old NHL rich teams like the leafs had an advantage when it came to contracts. Now it's more balanced. What's the allure for a player like Yandle to come to a rebuilding team?

Domi in his rookie year has 47 points already. Not that one year can dictate his future career. And how do you know Auston Matthews is going to be a top line player. You have no idea about that. None of us do. A year ago we didn't know about him. Stop getting so star struck and influenced by the media . Results speak for themselves and oel and Domi to a lesser extent have them. 25 years ago the hockey world went nuts for Eric lindros. The flyers a massive package for him to then nordiques. They used those players and picks to turn themselves into the Stanley Cup champions 4 years later. Injuries and time wore lindros down and the flyers never won a cup with him. If you have a chance to really improve your team for the long term you consider it.

If everything fell into place and thus deal was available I would do it in a heartbeat. 2 NHL proved players and a good pick. Heck yeah.

If you trade jvr you get a good defenseman but you lose your best forward. Who the heck is going to be a leader up front? You can't expect the kids to be stars right away. Jvr is signed reasonably and he's 26. It's silly to trade him!
