With the Kuznetsov signing, it's clear that the Leafs will need to pony up large for the big 3.

Matthews $10M per
Marner $6.5M per
Nylander $6.5M per

That being said, now that the Leafs acquired Marleau who's contract will only have 1 year remaining when Matthews and Marner's deals kick in was a fantastic add. This allows the Leafs to unload JVR and still have that top line presence.

Potential destinations for JVR, ANA, NYI, LV or PHA

To ANA: F - JVR

To TOR: D - B, Montour + F - M. Jones

or

TO NYI: F - JVR +

To TOR: D - R. Pulock + F - M. Dal Colle or 2018 1st (the lesser of the 2 1st's)

or

To LV: F - JVR

To TOR: D - C. Miller + 2019 2nd round pick (NYI)

or

To PHA: F - JVR

To TOR: D - P. Myers + 2018 2nd round pick + 2019 4th round pick

Don't see a deal happening with SJ, they just don't have what the Leafs need.

Hope it's not 12, that's a massive contract. McDavid's contract will almost certainly crush the Oilers team.

They will all get breach contracts like Morgan Reilly. Will be like 7-8 mil Mathews and about 5-6 for the other 2. And will be for about 4 yrs until they can qualify for free agents which will then have a higher cap and the team will be better rounded and established. Reilly set the bar for the leads for payouts. Mathews is no mcdavid 10 mil is pretty generous. Maybe 8+ bonuses.
