Best interest for leafs would be waiting a year and bringing all the players trade value to their current payroll. Cap will most likely increase a bit more and not many free agents this yr getting big pays, next year Kessel will be not only affordable but also worth his value under babcock this way leafs won't have to retain anything. If they still want players from this year's draft then they can trade but they will be losing more this year then next.
Marner will be drafted this year by the leafs. And if the leafs could make it happen get rid of reims resign Bernier bring minor up, gives minor more nhl games and then the leafs could lose more games to get good draft pick next year.
So if anything will happen this year it will most likely be a move up in the draft with minor player moves.

Could throw in Holland so either Carolina or jersey can dump a player they don't want with high salary. Any thoughts? Replacements?

I disagree, but only slightly. I'd want to see the Leafs mgmt push hard to move out Phaneuf and Kessel and even Bozak simply because it's time for a fresh start and a new mindset in that dressing room. Giving these players away makes no sense though, so only if there are decent trades out there to be had.
The sooner the Leafs can start building a new leadership 'core' the better. Guys like Polak, JVR, Reilly can step up with support from Lupul and Robidas.

If possible that sounds good. Phaneuf and Kessel go to playoff teams that need to get better or non playoff teams pushing for a spot. I see SJ and Detroit as trading partners for our two big contracts. The sooner the better.

I know edmonton has some cap issues but that's why I'm mother a gm. But I feel that's a strong deal for both teams and in the end of the dream leafs sign mcdavid and strome. Build defence around Reilly.

Leafs should sign Appleby, will be around there with picks, top goalie in draft in my opinion. Also will push bibeau to play well.Also strome is a huge pick they will try and get both him and marner can't see them not getting them both or trying to. Brown played with strome a little chemistry add marner and you got a wicked line.
That Carolina deal looks like the best fit to dump Kessel and gain a pick and a vet for the young guns.
And Phaneuf needs to go do edmonton. But I can't see t happening (cap issues)
Coach needs to be hunter from ohl. Just needs his brother to convince him to come back to nhl.
Gm would be nice for Gilmour to leave Kinston and leaf fans would love it. But might be too soon and by the way it is looking now, dubas has that pretty locked up.
Either way it's going to be Shanahan team non the less, and toronto will be the next 2013 Boston Bruins in 5 yrs. It's going to be an exciting next 3 years.

They will all get breach contracts like Morgan Reilly. Will be like 7-8 mil Mathews and about 5-6 for the other 2. And will be for about 4 yrs until they can qualify for free agents which will then have a higher cap and the team will be better rounded and established. Reilly set the bar for the leads for payouts. Mathews is no mcdavid 10 mil is pretty generous. Maybe 8+ bonuses.
