A little crazy, yes but gonna give this a try anyway. Getting a couple vets in needed positions.

Trade 1:
To Tor: Backlund (50%retained)

To Cgy: Robertson, 2025 2nd rd pick, 2026 4th rd pick

I know these guys don’t seem to want to deal with Treliving but Robertson is right in that age group Cgy is growing with and Backlund is on the last year of his deal at 34yo.

2nd trade:

To Tor: Savard (50% retained)

To MTL: Liljegren, Jarnkrok, 2025 3rd rd pick

Savard with 50% retention is 1.75M to play along OEL.

Like the trades but not sure you need to throw in the 2nd round pick in the Calgary trade nor Jarnkrok in the Montreal trade. If doing it for cap space just can trade Jarnkrok for a low draft pick. Like the players you’ve targeted.

Clarky I've read that we are the 6th oldest team in the league and these trades would probably bump us up into the top 3.
Personally, I would prefer to trade for younger players.

I think we have 3 maybe 4 year window to have a chance to win while Matthews is still here. So these vets I would be ok with. Backlund is a stud and would love to get him even for a couple years. Shuts down the other teams best players. You’re probably right DGC about being too much. Liljegren is probably enough. Just thought I’d try something different from the everyday names but yes like Tags said a little old but IMO we are not losing too much value to our team. We don’t need Liljegren, Robertson or Jarnkrok.

I don’t see the leafs moving more picks when they don’t have any to begin with when it comes to Robertson I can see it being picks or a pick coming back because come trade deadline if they are in the position they have been in the last few years they will need picks to make deals.

I personally like the trades and would make them in a heart beat. Good 3rd line responsible center that can add some offence and an experienced defensive defensemen. For a couple inexperienced young bucks that get pushed around.

Ty Kmores someone I can agree with. I didn’t give away the 1st rd pick and it’s not too often later draft picks make the NHL or even have an impact if they do. I’d be ok with this solidifying our C and top 6 positions.
