I hate the idea of trading Willy but we have too many holes to be in the cup convo so…

Toronto trades Nylander, Robertson to Vancouver for
Both Elias Petterssons Rossi and or Buium

Throw in Domi if needs be but I think the best strategy in trading Willy is getting two or more higher end players to fill holes.

Why on earth would the Leafs want Peterson? Grossly overpaid and hasn’t been playing well for two yrs.

You’re forgetting Nylander has a no move. He’s not going to Vancouver.

No, not forgetting it’s a hypothetical. This was just one idea to fill multiple holes for Nylander. I looked at NYR to get Fox and a 2nd C, but age became a factor. Looked at Philly and thought of Jason Robertson from Dallas, but didn’t see a d-man that would be worth coming back.

@leafsgm Gotcha. Honestly, Dallas would make sense Robertson for Willy but I don’t think it helps either team.

Robertson is a good player, good not great. Willy is great, at times, lol. IMO, I would stay away from players like Robertson and building around those player types. We need heart, soul, grit, speed and intensity. It’s a lot, but we won't except less moving forward.

Players coming in will want to be here, play for the crest and organization legacy, not the name on the back, and they will be a team first, have a bond and the same goals in mind. All for one, we will win together, lose together mentality. This core s*** ends now!

Sad part is if we had traded our 1st round picks away for the next 2 years, we would have been in a position to chase Robertson from Dallas with a RFA offer without giving up Nylander. But we don't have the draft picks to fulfill compensation. In fact we literally don't have the draft picks to chase any RFA of note.
