Idk if anyone on here listens to podcast I do makes the work day go by but I just finished listening to the Steve dangle Podcast and they talked about who they think the leafs should target and a point was brought up that was really good with such a compact schedule the playoffs are going to be tougher then ever and I think the leafs may run into trouble with injuries to their blue line was saw it last year with Muzzin yes we are deeper but I'm not sold our depth would allow us to win a cup so here's a trade I thought of

Tor: Kerfoot Vesey conditional 1st Liljegren
Nsh: ekholm Haula 750k retained

Conditions are we give the press the option of taking our first this year or next year similar to the sicker trade

Now we have superior defence another guy who can play pk and power play with term. Haula comes in and slots on the third line he's a better 2 way guy and would be a great addition to the top pk

I listen to a tonne of podcasts as well about a lot of subjects.

Steve Dangle in particular I'm not a fan of though. The three of them have an irrational love of Nylander at all times and also advocate for Freddy as if he is a top 10 goaltender.

I thought conditions weren't allowed anymore? I remember hearing something about that anyway I just can't remember the specifics of it.

The trade though. Where does Ekholm fit in that gives a significant boost? Does Dermott move to the press box in this situation? For once I am actually happy with all 3 pairings. They can always be better but I'm not sure this is worth it.

I like the idea, but here is the problem with this one. Haula walks end of year likely and if you do not protect Ekholm, he gets taken by Seattle. If you do protect him, that means Holl is exposed and Seattle takes him. In the end, you could end up with both players being gone at the end of the year and be out Kerfoot, a 1st and Liljegren.

I would also like to add ekholm to the D. play him on right side of muzzin and move hioll down to 3rd line. but would also like to add grablind seeing as he is also in mix. saw 1st period against canes last night aND he made 2 or 3 nice passes that would have surely been goals had they been to one of our top four. deal would have to be those 2 at half retained with kerfoot and picks prospects going back. we'd still have ekholm to protect next year at cheaper than holl who could be left unprotected with demote and engvall. I'd love Bennett but with Sutter there I don't see him moving this year if he plays the way he does in playoffs.

Conditions on anything playoffs or player resigning with team are off the table

Which draft a team wants to pick from I don’t see being a problem

RLF has great point . Guess it’s a risk but to go for cup is well worth it isn’t it. I mean you still have 4 amazing D next year even without holl

Here’s outside box thinking. Nylander gets his bonus July 1st. Draft is late July so last by then nylander has 14.5 million in real money owed with a 6.9 cap hit each year.

Deal nylander to Seattle for 2nd rd 2021 and 1st 2022 and 3rd 2023. Seattle gets closer to floor for only 2.5 million the 1st year they play. Saves leafs from losing holl while gaining nylanders cap hit

Outside the box.

I think the Nylander thing is more of a joke and as for Freddy I haven’t heard them say that more like he’s got to be better but as for the trade suggestions I would slot ekholm on the bottom pair and go with a cycle of bogosian and Dermott like hockeyluvr said Dermott has not been great the last little bit and it’s always good to have depth my thing is we either play it safe or go for it look what Tampa did last year they traded two first and one of their best prospects to get third liners and it brought them to the cup can’t always play it safe the leafs have the best chance to go all the way this year with being in the north until the conference finals.

Thanks for clarifying Craiggers. I knew it was something to do with conditions wasn't allowed anymore but didn't have a chance to look it up.

Nylander is inconsistent and when it comes to playoffs he sucks to be honest. I agree about Freedy he needs to play better but with that said so does the defence they need to stepped up and play their positions they they have been relying too much on Freddy and allowing to many shots on net. We need more toughness and rubbing the guys out along the boards so that they do not get opportunities to get shots on net.

If Dermott isn’t up for the challenge maybe they could sign Jake Gardiner . thoughts?
