I love this trade I want younger prospects and young players. This New Jersey wouldn’t do but you never know.

NJ says no, but this a basis for a trade.

Maybe something more involving picks and prospects.

I'd be very happy with this deal, but I doubt NJ would. I don't think NJ have any interest in Willy anymore after getting Palat, Meier and now Toffoli. The time to possibly trade Willy to NJ was last season and of course Dubas was never going to trade Willy.

With Severson gone, I doubt they touch their top 4 D. They won't pay Willy what he wants, so he is likely to walk end of season. That leaves them with Marino and Mercer for Liljegren. Plus, is Nylander THAT much better than Mercer? Offensively, yes, Willy is better. As an overall player, Mercer is already better. Marino is better than Liljegren and signed for 3 extra years.

Now, if NJ believes that Luke Hughes is truly ready and it was Nylander and Liljegren for something like Stillman, Marino and hopefully McLeod, that may interest both teams because even if Nylander won't re-sign, NJ didn't lose a high end forward like Mercer for one year of Nylander. But like I said, I don't think they have any real interest in Willy.

Agreed that New Jersey doesn't go for this trade, but I'm thinking if we trade Nylander I would include Lily in a package.
In return, I think we should grab a better Dman (to replace Lily) and a slightly less talented forward to fill in for Willy's spot.
I believe Defense is where we need to get stronger as opposed to offense. We've already signed more scoring, now we need a versatile Dman who can play solid D and move the puck up.
