I'm reading an article about Frost being a healthy scratch for 5 games now. Not sure what the issue is, but if everything is good after Leafs do their due diligence, then I think Frost is a great target.

3 trades

To Philly
Robertson $.797M RFA
Timmins $1.1M/ 2 yrs RFA

To Toronto
Frost $2.1M/ 2 yrs RFA
2024 4th

Cap space -$1M

Then
To Columbus
Jarnkrok $2.1M/ 3 yrs
2024 4th (Philly)

To Toronto
Peeke $2.75M/ 3 yrs

Cap space -$.675M

Then
To Buffalo
Samsonov $3.55M

To Toronto
Comrie $1.35M (25% retained)

Cap space +$2.2M

After all trades, Leafs accumulate an extra $.525M in cap space, which gives them enough space for 21 man roster.

Lines
Knies-Matthews-Marner
Bertuzzi-Tavares-Nylander
Domi-Frost-Steeves (earned, plus plays RW)
Gregor-Kampf-Reaves

Rielly-Peeke
Brodie-Liljegren
McCabe-Klingberg
Giordano

Woll
Comrie

Thoughts?

So why are we giving do much to philly for a guy that's been scratched for 5 games?

@Calvo2612 Frost is still a very good player, so not sure Philly would just give him away for nothing. Plus Leafs need to shed some salary as well to fit under the cap.

Robertson (an AHL player) and Timmins (a #7, #8 defenseman) do not get you Morgan Frost (24 years old, 19g, 27A, 46p) let alone the Flyers adding a 4th round pick.

Flyers are rebuilding and want youth or picks.
If Flyers trade a young center they will likely want a young center in return (hence Minten)
Minten may well become as good as Frost in a couple of years but Leafs are trying to win NOW and have a vacancy at 3rd line center that Frost would fill perfectly.

To Flyers: Minten, Robertson, Klingberg ($4.1)

To Leafs: Morgan Frost ($2.1)

Leafs take the $2 million in cap savings and try to pry a defenseman like Peeke or Bortuzzo lose from their respective teams.

Knies - Matthews - Marner
Bertuzzi - Tavares - Nylander
Domi - Frost - Jarnkrok
Gregor - Kampf - Reaves (?)
Holmberg

Reilly - Brodie
McCabe - Liljegren
Giordano - Peeke
Benoit - Timmins - Lagesson - Kokkanen.

Interesting moves where value seems about right. Not sure I would want to do all of it, but value seems reasonable.

Comrie has been the Sabres best goalie so far (Although Luukonnen did just have a shutout) . Maybe they do it, maybe not.

I don't think that 3rd line is any better than the current one, if as good. People moan about Kampf as 3C, but in the last 4 games since he started getting more minutes (14-15mins a night), he has 2 pts while being a +3. Knies 4pts a +3. Domi 3 pts a +3. None have PP points. I'd say they have been very good 5 on 5.

@RLF sorry for the late reply, but I wasn't around the site yesterday.
Not sure if you're referring to my trades or WB49, but thanks if you're referring to my trade values.

As per Kampf, I'm not down on him but line just doesn't look right in my mind and I think Frost would be a big upgrade over him.
The main reason I want to change the lines is really to upgrade Knies to the top line where I think he would shine. Plus I want to get rid of Jarnkrok, I know LL likes him and I think you do as well, but I really don't see any use for his $2.1M AAV. I'd rather have Steeves take a shot with Domi and Frost, if the trade would materialize.
Then I would play
Gregor-Kampf-Reaves/ Holmberg
Holmberg is waiver exempt so no worries sending him up or down and I don't think Reaves would get claimed if we send him down (considering a 3 year contract) . I would have Reaves in the line up when playing more physical teams and Holmberg otherwise (to create a shut down line) .
