Kampf and Jarnknok do not fit into Leafs long term plans anymore.

The top Maple Leafs need is cap space as they have so many holes to fil and upgrade at deadline.

Let's hope Keefe gives Hildeby a few games starting tomorrow night let's see what's he has got.

Toronto need at least 1 top 6 forward even if he ended up on third line so you have 3 solid lines. I don't think Jarnknok can keep up with Domi and Robertson. KANE would have been ideal so we need a strong scoring threat on that third line maybe a banger life Bertuzzi with more skill.

For a cup run Leafs need 2 forwards and a top 4 defenceman. Let's grab Cory Perry he may be the fit on 3rd line. Then look foe a first liner to replace Knies he can slide down in lineup.

That's a lot for just a 2nd rd pick. Who would the Leafs insert for losing those 3 players?

Perry I doubt plays again this year, if ever although I do agree they could really use a player like him come playoff time.

Kane wanted nothing to do with the Leafs, he is doing ok with the Wings but I don't really see him as a player who moves the needle that much with the Leafs. Yes he would do well offensively but that is all he brings, essentially he is an older past his prime version of Nylander.

Realistically the Leafs are 5-6 players away from being a true cup contender, 2 two way forwards, 3 top 4 defencemen and a actual 1A goalie. They only have 1 true top 4 D-Man (Reilly) and the rest are really bottom 3 on any other team who could fill in at the top 4 for a short period of time.

You would get a 2nd for Jarnkrok alone.

If the Maple Leafs have many holes to fill and little trade capital and cap space, then why go for it this year? As well, if you trade Kampf and Jarnkrok, you also have to fill their spots, so you aren't saving as much cap as you would think.

I agree, I hope they play Hildeby tonight. Not to really see what they have, but because it gives him some NHL experience if for some reason (in the future), like now, we may need him.

Just for reference, if you think the Leafs need a bigger scoring threat on the 3rd line, then statistically it should be Robertson who is replaced. He has the worst PPG of the 3 currently.

You want 2 forwards and a top 4 D. And who/ what exactly are you trading to acquire it?

If Willy signs his (rumoured) 11.25 extension I'd say they're further away though.

What position is 2nd round gonna play this year.? Kampf and Järnkrok contracts are solid on any other team.
