One would have to think it would take more than a late 1st round pick, a B+/ A- prospect and a #7/ #8 defenseman to pry Columbus’ top defenseman loose from the Blue Jackets.
I don’t believe that would even be enough to acquire Mackenzie Weegar from Calgary!

Agree with WB49. I don't think Columbus says yes.
Although I am not sure why WB49 took the slap against Weegar. 22 points in 38 games. Averages 22 mins a night, hits, blocks shots, will fight, plays both PP and PK, can play both sides and is a plus player at even strength on a team that has suffered from poor goaltending. Plus he has 7 years left on his term at only $6.25M. If the cap keeps going up as expected, that will be a huge bargain for a top pair D. I'd be thrilled if the Leafs got him and paired him with Rielly.

@Rossatron3000 I don't know any of those names, besides the obvious. But I would definitely take a flyer on Perry, of course, depending on what actually happened.
@Mackin you're right about the 3rd line needing change.

I like Toews leadership and a fresh start at this point in his career also really like Perry. Robertson should be moved as if he is destined to be a 3rd line player then he has no use for Toronto. The defense is NOT a top 10 in the league and my thought is just make the Tanev trade and over pay for Pesche or even better Slavin. If Carolina is willing then how about this.
Slavin for Robertson, Samsonov and Lil. If Toronto make the conference finals add a 2nd. Make the cup add a first.

We do need D and help on the 3rd line. And yes, I think it is Robertson that gets demoted or traded. McMann could do what he does and add an element of size and board battle. Trade Robertson for D help or send him back down and put Steeves on the 4th line while elevating McMann to the 3rd line.

In Game 5 of the final series against Skellefteå AIK, with the championship on the line, Larmi made 20 saves to blank Skellefteå and claim a 3-0 title win in Game 5. It was his fourth shoutout of the SHL postseason. Following the victory, Larmi became the first goaltender in SHL history to be named playoff MVP, per DK Pittsburgh Sports’ Taylor Haase.

Sign Willy and trade him at the draft for a king’s ransom of picks and prospects. I’d reckon he would easily fetch a top 10 draft pick + a couple of high end prospects. The leafs need those to maintain success moving forward. A nice rotation of highly talented players on cheap contracts. Sign and trade. Just business, next question.
