I know this would be controversial for some, but I think the Leafs should look at Michael McLeod. I'm sure he will face backlash from some fans, acquitted or not. I liked him when he was in Jersey and wanted him as a Leaf.
When you look at how well Hart is playing, I wonder if McLeod could now translate his game better as well. Almost a point per game last year in the KHL. He would probably take a lot of verbal abuse from some fans though as I hear Hart is.

I've been for it. He's a good young player. Incredible on the faceoff circle. I'm fully down to turn heel and just do what's best to win a cup over being politically correct. We can get him on a sweetheart deal because of the bulls***.

The majority of what negative tings Hart hears are not in his home rink. McLeod would hear it way worse here, and if he had a bad game, it a stretch of them it would be a monstrous distraction to the team.
He is better suited if he comes back to the NHL to find a city that doesn’t have the crazy coverage the Canadian teams all have. He can just leave to rink in Russia and many NHL cities where no-one has a clue who he is.

Hart was booed when he stepped on the ice and then the no means no chant started later. That was in Carolina. Not really a hockey hotbed or a state that really cares about what happens in Canada. Those guys are going to hear it at times no matter where they play in the NHL, likely worse in Toronto.

Just cuz it's an unpopular decision, doesn't mean it's a bad one. The Leafs really need to stop being pushovers to the fans and players. It's time to do whatever it takes.

@RLF. That was a pre planned strategy by the Carolina fans in a playoff game.

I get that. They obviously knew about his situation or they wouldn't have a plan for it. Ie, as I said, even in Carolina, they know.

It only takes one to know. It was planned on Reddit. The vast majority until the social media went all over it had no clue prior. He had been playing since Dec. in the league and barely faced anything. But McLeod here would be hammered even by his own fans.

Unfortunately Leafs fans would go ape over McCloud being on this team even with all the evidence showing him being innocent. Id love him on this team he was a great player who unfortunately had his career ruined.

Give him a PTO. I don’t see why not.

He's top 10 in the NHL. He's been solid, and has a transfer clause in his contract.

Top 10 in the NHL??????

@Mattyboy Seriously. To use the word "Great" in describing McLeod as a player? This is a guy who was scoring at a rate of 24 points a season. I would say he was a ok player not "Great".

And if it only takes one to know and they can plan it all through Reddit apparently, (which I guess that means all those people in the stadium are Reddit readers) I think that proves my point, not dismisses it. Kind of like the rumour that McTavish was slower because he bulked up started on Reddit, didn't it, Suffering? Probably being slower start of the season had nothing to do with the contract dispute and him missing most of training camp.

It started on Reddit then spread to other social forums in the area. All I am saying is McLeod in this market would be a total distraction to this team. And what is the McTavish was slower because he bulked up thing about?

Well, you were the one who mentioned that on here about Mactavish, which has been attributed to a Reddit contributor.

First off, I am not on Reddit. Do I read links to it, of course. But I am not a member. Secondly, when did I say that about McTavish? I did say it about Knies, adding the extra weight that may have contributed to the knee issues.
If you can send me the post I wrote that about McTavish, with the date I wrote that, I will own up to it.

@suffering Another note about his usage. He was stuck behind Nico Heirsher and Jack Hughes playing 12-15m a night his entire career. Still put up 19 points in 45 games starting 68% of the game defensively. Playing over 1m/g PK and a grand total of 6 minutes over 45 games PP time.
Now he's put up top 20 #s in the KHL. Yes I know I said top 10, but I looked much closer at his numbers. All he needs it to get out of the shadows and he will make name of himself.

Suffering, it was probably 2-4 weeks ago on a trade discussion. I remember you wrote it and I had never heard that about him, so I tried to find where a coach etc had said that. The rumour apparently started on Reddit. You can believe me or not.

I have no idea how to search back that far or even if you can. Like I said, if you don't believe me, that's fine.
