Exactly. That's all it would be is the right to negotiate to sign him or to give him a qualifying offer. Then it could turn into a can of worms with other teams possibly doing offer sheets or eventually it could be arbitration which could go horribly wrong on many levels. The only way to get him with those draft picks is kind of like the Mitch Marner things. He is accepting of going to Toronto at a set price and Dallas signs him to that and then he and his contract are traded to Toronto for those picks.

I don’t think the Stars will have trouble signing Robertson, not sure it’s gonna be a sign and trade like Marner. He’s not worth 3 1st rd picks. Especially if he signs over $12m like he’s asking for. You give up 3 firsts, plus you pay him over $12m for who knows how many years. No thank you.

Well, for starters, if it is over $12 million, it is not 3 first-round picks; it is 4. If it is $9,360,154 - $11,700,192, it is 2x 1st round pick (in next 3 drafts starting 2026), 2026 2nd round pick, 2026 3rd round pick, and they have to be your original draft picks, none to be acquired by trade from other teams.
And it goes down in compensation picks based on the offer sheet if it is accepted.

Robertson would be crazy to not go through the RFA process to max out what Dallas would have to match then in that case. Might as well get them to match the largest offer sheet. That way they could possibly get 4 first instead of a sign and trade for 3 firsts.
Also I think with the initial post with all the trades to get the picks etc. I think he would say "You know I might have gone to Toronto to play with my brother but you just traded him away" lol lol.

The 1st I assume is for McMann? If so then you want more than Gavin Brindley who is a hard worker but vastly undersized, and a Middle of the road Junior Defenseman. The problem with Colorado is that their cupboard is even more bare than the leafs for prospects. The only real one they have worth pursuing is Max Curran as I stated in another post but then he has decided to commit to UMass for from all accounts the full 4 years.
I think over the next 3 years Colorado fans will be in for a slow ride down the hill as their team ages and they are up against the cap with nothing to trade in assets or prospects and no Cash to get free agents. In two years their could be some major players from the team getting auctioned off.

Let's be real. Raddysh will want 7 million minimum in Tampa. That equals out to 9-9.5 in Toronto, he will also want a 7 yeear deal which makes him 38 when the deal is done. We would have to bet that he continues to be a star for at least 6 years and we'd have to bet that this year was not a fluke at all and he's actually a top 5 dman in the league.
I'm not willing to risk it personally.

maybe they're clearing cap for a trade, they save 2.25 mil i think. and absolutely that should increase OEL trade value, i think he should 100 percent go for first and a prospect.
