Ok so we’ve all ready the articles and I’m curious is there a world we could add Schneider and Kent Johnson?

Tor: OEL Colorado first

NYR: Schneider

Tor: Joshua and a 2nd

Columbus: Kent Johnson.

Way toooo much for Schneider.

Not moving any 1st rd picks just yet, unless it's for a legit top dman, or #2 C. If it's not any of those then I'm waiting to see what this team is before any significant draft picks get moved.

Ok, I hear both of you but it’s a Colorado pick so probably a very low 1st round pick so you’d have to add significantly to get a top D or 2C with that pick. My thought was OEL had a good year last season but is aging so the pick is to pad the deal.

My only concern is that New York needs improvement on Defence. The fact that most New York trade rumours have Schneider in them is worrisome. They need D and yet they are willing to trade a young D that has experience? Everyone says that he had ample opportunity to grab the bull by the horns when Adam Fox was injured.

IMO I see Schneider as a bottom pairing Dman, and there is no way I am giving up a 1st for a bottom pairing Dman.

I think he’s too young to be labeled a bottom pairing and has played for a less than stellar team. I’d also point out we’d be trading an aging player and you’d be hard pressed to convince me Schneider doesn’t have more upside than OEL, plus I believe the Rangers would get a player that would help them as I said he put up pretty good numbers last season.

Anyway, thanks for the feed back, just an idea, right?

I pressed send to fast. Another thing that is worrisome is that adding Schneider and giving up OEL and the First would make Schneider the 6th highest paid skater position player on the team.

And even if he has a average year he will want a raise as a RFA. We would still have OEL at a very manageable $3.5 for 2 years and still have that 1st round pick.

I wouldn't want to give that much up for Schneider either. As for Johnson, I don't think that does it even though he is coming off a down year.

The least 1st (Col) is more valuable at the deadline than it is pre season. There is always the chance that Colorado could miss the playoffs, injuries, improved divisional teams that could make the pick actually end up 13-16.

If you look at the potential free agents of 2027 there some fair options that look like they could be available.

@GM78 Man I mostly would agree with your thinking but, last year crushed that Colorado team in every single aspect. They collapsed bc of no Makar. He’s the engine that drives that squad. I know MacKinnon can yes but if he’s contained they’re very beatable. We keep that 1st. It might end up being super valued by end of season. There was also some very good talent that went 15-25 range. So, we’ve lost ours I think we keep Colorado’s. Then there’s only 1 year we lose a pick in round 1. That won’t happen again for many years.

Only way we pick in 28’ is when we trade guys made available bc they have a great season this year but can be replaced by some of our young guns in the system. Like, Holinka just saying we don’t move him lol. Or when Nylander and or Matthews get the door. Cause it’s coming. Tbh I don’t know if the Leafs want to resign him! I think management wants a different look and different direction just my opinion. I’m sorry guys for this all over rant but I did throw some thoughts out there to get u going.
