I would say a pretty fair trade. Hart at 3.9M is probably what you'd get Samsonov at after arbitration. He's younger with a higher ceiling (imo) . The extra year for Konecny maybe makes up for the difference in him and Nylander.

What evidence is there that Hart is better? His career GAA and save pct are worse than Samsonov.

That’s an overpayment by the Leafs.
Samsonov = Hart
Nylander is superior to Konecny

Expand the trade a little.

To Flyers: Nylander, Samsonov, Robertson, 2024 - 3rd round pick via Islanders.

To Leafs: Konecny, Hart, Lawton.

@Bob in his first two seasons he put up 917 and 914 save pct respectively. This was for a mediocre team, as a serious underage (by goaltending standards) .

Since then, his numbers have dropped off, but not a goalie alive would be in Vezina talks with Risto and D'Angelo in front of them.

@waterbuffalo. konecny scored 31 goals last year on a bad Philly team. I don't think he is inferior at all to Willy. I am sure he'd end up with more points playing on our top line. in fact I'd be happy even if it meant he only scored 25.the simple fact we are adding a guy with energy and tenacity and for a good cap hit for 2 years. I bet his current coach does not have to motivate him on a regular basis like Keefe does with willy.

31 goals in only 60 games too. Point a game player. 2 more years at 5.5M is a solid value. Might not be so far from Nylander after all.

@leafs 67.exactly . probly not to far off willy if he is on leafs. and he competes. imagine a top 6 where we have 3 agitators like konecny . Domi and Bertuzzi. Matthews will think he is 10 feet tall and bullet proof.

I’d be waiting to see if Hart becomes an accused person from the sexual assault investigation completed recently before ever bringing him to Toronto.

I love Konecny and was stunned that Dubas passed on him and traded down at the draft to select Travis Dermot and Jeremy Bracco.
Just one of what I view as a long list of mistakes by Dubas.
As you point out, Konecny brings grit along with skill.
That said, I think it is stretching it a little to say that Konecny is equal to Nylander.

@waterbuffalo. yes. definately a mistake by Leafs not drafting him. and ya. skill wise i would agree Willy has more skill they are different players. but the intangibles that Konecny would bring i think far out way what Willy has. like i said. more energy or "snot" as Tree would say. Konecny does not strike me as the type of needy player that needs his coach to puch him. he's signed for another 2 seasons at a great cap hit. he's a local boy from London. a point a game player on a bad Philly team with room to improve those numbers on an offensive team like the Leafs. and would be a lot easier to resign after 2 years once Tavares comes off the books cause really. Tavares and his cap is what is making giving Willy 10Mil a year a tough thing to do for that last year JT is here. so for all those reasons i would give up the extra 9 goals Willy scored compared to Konecny.

I feel he would be as important a contributor during the season and an even better player than Willy in the playoffs.
