I think it's time the leafs look seriously at moving marner here's what I came up with
Tor: marner Robertson
Nyi: Dobson 1st 2024 2nd 2025 pageau
Here's my logic the leafs would be smart to sign nylander the guy is asking for 11mil which marner already makes you already know marner is gonna ask for 12 on his next deal and to me especially this year he hasn't earned it the guy is so easy to read he never shoots and he hasn't been anywhere close to as good defensively. In exchange the leafs get dobson a big young rhd and a 1st also pageau who people may not like but he's useful as a 3c good defensively physical and can put it in the net for taking the full contract the leaf also get a 2nd Robertson is a bit of a throw in kids been better this year but he's too small and inconsistent

Islanders say no. Don’t think that package gets Dobson alone, never mind a 1st, 2nd and Pageau on top. A top young RHD who has proven to be a stud at a young age will cost you the farm. An overpaid winger will not get the needle moving for NYI in my opinion.

I think the time to go after Dobson is past unless it is an obvious overpay, which this would not be. imo.

I agree time to move Marner but not for Dobson and Pageau
If they could move Marner and bring in Tanev and Hanifin on the back end.
And bring someone in like Trenin or Mcbain for the 3 line I think that would be better.
Also I agree with trading Robertson he’s time it done.

Marner, Brodie, Robertson, domi and a first for lindholm, Hanifan and Tanev. overall a solid upgrade for this season . Worst case … none of them re-sign and leafs have lots of cap space next year.
Find a way to move Samsonov and secure another goalie. Make this deal into a real blockbuster and get markstom.

I don’t want the leafs touching 34 year old injury prone Tanev and Hanifin already said he wasn’t playing for a Canadian market after this year I did not know Dobson was such a stud I mean they just got sacked 7-0 to the pens.

Marner has a full no move. He goes nowhere unless he wants to and I don't think he wants to. Nylander is the only one that Leafs have some control over when and to who and for what. That should create the best return. I also would not want to give Nylander more than a 4 year term on a new deal and it wouldn't be $10M. More about $9M max.
Nylander is not a given for good value, but more likely. He could play hardball and tell his agent to let everyone now that even if he is traded, he won't re-sign with the team he is traded to, which would trash his value. I hope he wouldn't do that, but it's possible.

I like the target, Dobson but Pageau is a $5 million dollar a year, 3rd line center with two more years after this season, which makes no sense for the Leafs salary cap issues.
Expecting Islanders to add a 1st and 2nd round pick is just a pipe dream and I do not mean a tobacco pipe.
Lou is an Old School guy who believes in building the team from the net out.
Sorokin/ Varlamov, Pulloch, Pelych, Dobson, Romanov, Mayfield.
I believe he will not trade Dobson as he is only a step or two below, Makar, Hughes, Fox and Heiskanen.
