I think people are going to be very disappointed in the deadline. Dubas won't do much because he can't do much. Does anyone really believe that he will be allowed to clear the cupboards just to get out of the first round? The organization would be fools to allow that just so he can save his job.

He will make a move I believe and he has assets to do so, it just won't likely be the kind of move that the team needs. It will likely be an aging vet that is on the decline from an out of the playoff race team that he will overpay for as other teams got the big names. Dubas will hope he finds his old game for a playoff run. A guy like Silverberg comes to mind if he was a pending UFA.
Whereas I would be more happy with guys I mention like McBain or Jeannot that you can keep moving forward. Like Florida did to get Bennett and Reinhart. Or like Boston got Zacha, Hall, Smith, Coyle. Leafs need another Muzzin type of trade, which Dubas hardly ever makes.

Probably one of the only good things Dubas did was not re-sign Campbell.

Vegas had a much stronger defensive core in front of their goalie.

Manner needs to be surrounded by guys that can take away the physicality from him. Much like Gretzky (I am not comparing him to the great one), he needs guys that will protect him so he can dangle. Regular season it wasn't needed but playoffs as we know are a different animal. He's too small and too light.

You won't see a coaching change until Mathews signs. Once that happens, I give Keefe 10 games in before being fired. Mathews likes control, unless he wants him gone or he won't sign, Treliving is stuck.

The problem is and will continue to that this team as is was not a playoff built team. The additions definitely helped get them over that 1st round hump but they cannot go 7 games against the same team without being figured out. Florida is hitting everything they see. Mathews, Marner Na Willy aren't interested in that type of play. If they had 1/ 2 Tavares' heart, we'd be cup bound. Why do you think the Leafs were favored to win it all going into game 1 against Fla, then once they lost not even favored to win the round?
