Leivo hasn't proven enough in this league to be worth a 2nd round pick. His value sits at a 4th-5th round pick at best. Who in their right mind would pay a 2nd round pick for a guy who's played 25 games total and couldn't even secure a steady role on a young, rebuilding team?
(P. S saying Chiarelli would pay it doesn't count, as the question only refers to people in their right mind)

Lei of should stay under control and under 1 million. Leafs are not talking at all about Johnson.
Kapanan is playing with Moore and komarov not exactly helping him put up points.
This is third line I want to see

That line is less than 3 million and was marries top line
Komarov Moore and brown on 4th line
Top two lines stay same

You don’t make moves that will
Sacrifice tomorrow, but if moving a couple of plugs to get better now, they need to do it
There are obvious pieces you don’t move now, and I won’t mention them as it has been beaten to death . You also don’t move first round picks (unless it’s for an unbelievable D man )
Trading Lievo will not ruffle anything moving forward .
These kids have earned a chance to compete TOGEThER in the postseason and gain some experience . Will best whoever they play in round one .

Leivo is worth maybe a fourth rounder. I think if Leafs can get anything for either him or Martin, they should dump them both. Frees up a couple contracts. Leafs may have to retain some of Martins salary though.

I read some of these proposed trades and I laugh. What are some of u smoking. Leafs are not going to make any significant trades. They are going to stay the course and see what happens.

Leafs will not trade JVR this season . You can take that to the bank . let’s move on and get some real talk going
1) bozak - stinks, not as good in the face offs anymore . good in the shootout but trey don’t happen in the playoffs
2) Gardner - look back to 1:53 left in the 3rd vs Ottawa . He falls trying to skate backwards . I’m not joking when I say this guy has genuine trouble skating . Good passer but brutal defenseman (may I remind you he IS a defenseman)
3) we all know a Leivo and Sosh (once healthy) will be dealt 100% . Won’t get much for either of them or even packaged together .
4) komorov has a roll in the playoffs for sure, can win draws when he needs to move into the dot once Kadri or other C gets kicked out . Instigator, agitator and great P kill man . With him Hansey and zeitzev killing penalty’s we look great in PK. I am ok with keeping it dealing him, but he will certainly be involved in trade convo
Show me the trades involving Leivo Sosh Gards bozak and maybe Leo

Gardiner will get traded when a deal falls into place, but not because of his backward stumbles, which are few and far between. Me thinks you doth prostrate too much.
He will get traded because of his upcoming UFA status in a year.
We are all waiting for that trade posting from you.

That is cheap except top 3 players and nylander gets bridge so he is semi cheap

If my last post didn't go through:
2-3 weeks before the deadline:
JVR : Extend to a long term, team friendly contract. If it can't be done trade him for the best return.
Bozak: Extend for 1 year while we still have cap. If it can't be done trade him for the best return.
Leo: The same.
Ben Smith: Thanks for playing good enough to be tradeable.
Polak: Great career. Please be the best Dman in the playoffs again this year, but don't get hurt this time.
Fehr, D. Moore, Marincin, Lupul (when healthy), Greening: Thanks for showing up.
Reasons: Some are obvious.
JVR: Talented enough to extend at a reasonable price.
Bozak: We have the cap space for one more season.
Leo: The same.
Lou should be shopping all 3 even while negotiating extensions. If a great deal pops up, pull the trigger. If the extensions can't be reached, pull the trigger.
If the extension are reached and a great deal pops up; pull the trigger (these players would be more attractive with an extra year) .
We won't win anything this year. We should be determining how the younger players will do by themselves in the playoffs, not shielding them with veterans. They are not rookies any more. But if that's what you want to do; do the extensions.
No good player should be let to walk to UFA. He should be traded with at least a return in picks at minimum. To get nothing in return for JVR, Bozak, and Leo; would be bad management.

Flames laugh . rights to Bozak and a 2nd round pick for Hamilton and they are doing us a favor in taking Gardiner?
Take Hamilton out of the trade and maybe calgary considers it .

Gardiner is a bad defensive defenseman . That’s the reality of his skill set and ability
He does not skate well backwards, is not physical and doesn’t have great hockey sense
Should have been a winger
Could easily be a 3rd or 4th line winger in the NHL.

Polak and Dermott are best 2 D on the team
Coach is terrible . 4th line vs first, not bringing Martin in, playing Hainsey way too many PK minutes (should be on every PK for first 1:15 . )
Someone get me in that dressing room! I can make this happen . They have the tools, just using them wrong .
