Ryan Ellis is a small, offensive, RHD, which is not what the Leafs need; they already have Liljegren coming soon enough. He only got noticed this year, because the Preds challenged for the cup. Yes, he would be an upgrade to what we have, but trading all that would for him would be extremely counter productive, just as it would have been for Hamonic.
That is way too large a payment, just to get an average RHD.
The Leafs just need to develop. The recent additions will be here soon enough, and more will come after that. In the mean time Hainsey can play the RHS, and so can Rosen if they bring him up.
The above deal is just giving away top resources for an average return, and in a cap world, that just brings future failure.

This trade would honestly kill the Leafs. Talk about gutting the future. Three high draft picks, one elite prospect, one blue chip prospect, and two NHL players, one elite. This is a huge over payment for a guy whose going to be a UFA in a short time. I know Doughty is great, and this is no disrespect to him, but you are seriously overvaluing his worth. The more I look at your proposal, the more I cringe. What is your rationale for offering up all that and some?
