Very complex but something Dubas is a genius at, after this proposal Simmonds will be loaned to The Marlies, Hunt, Clifford and Mete will be taken off The Leafs Cap to keep Toronto under The Cap.

Thoughts ?

Lmao dubas a genius? Tell me why he’s gonna prioritize depth over players that will move the needle for them in the playoffs…… dubas has failed this organization. You think torontos good enough to beat Tampa Boston rangers or Carolina? Come on now I’m a diehard leafs fan but there’s no chance. And the fact that dubas thinks this group can do that is ridiculous.

I guess Dubas should have taken tips from Ferguson, or Burkie. Yeah, they didn't fail the organization. To say Dubas has failed the organization is exactly the thinking that keeps us posting on this site. Now, I am not saying that Dubas will ever compile a Cup winning team but at least he put us on the path which is most than any other one has done.

How did Dubas put the Leafs on the path?
He signed Tavares who would have come regardless who the GM was likely. Otherwise he is the Beneficiary of a 1st overall pick and 3 more top 8 picks (Marner, Nylander and Rielly), which he overpaid most of them on too short of term deals. The tank to get Matthews wasn't his doing.
He has made questionable trades, while rarely making any big trades because he loses most he has made anyway. He traded Marchment for Malgin. He traded Kadri for Barrie and Kerfoot. He traded a 1st plus for Foligno. He signed Mrazek and then had to pay to dump him. Then after getting out of that mistake, he traded for Murray. Yes, the Timmins trade looks good and he has been good at bargain bin shopping. Gio and Spezza would have come here regardless who the GM was as they wanted to play in T. O.
Exactly what has he done well other than sign free agents?

@RLF, this is funny. You admit he has done a good job signing free agents. He has done well at the draft - whenever he has a decent pick, and the team should be in the playoffs for years to come - remember, you can't win if your not in. Isn't that the path, or is there another path that gives us a shot this year and ten more years of waiting to make it.
If you dislike Dubas for some reason that's fine, everyone has an opinion, I am expressing an opinion on Dubas Failing the organization.

@16 Where's his solid draft record? Everyone always says that, but who are his steals exactly?

I know of a Dubas draft fail. did not get Schnieder when he should have and went with Amirov.

@16. You said he put us on the path without explanation. I asked how HE put us on the path. Yes, he has done a good job at finding cheap free agents. That is a small part of putting a team on the right path. What is funny I a note a bunch of his mistakes and you only concentrate on the one compliment I can give him and use that as some way to try and show I said he has done a great job.

Hey Pinball, even die-hard leaf fans don’t buy your ridiculously one-sides trades.

@RLF and Leafslife; I give up, Fire Dubas please, cause he is useless. I am a leafs fan who is trying to defend the GM, on a Leafs site no less, for putting them on a path. How was my response to the path not explained? You Draft well (oh yeah he had nothing to do with that) with what you have (sure Amirov has cancer lets pick that out) and sign free agents to fill the holes. Getting Matthews was fortunate but I do believe he is worth his contract. Marner probably should have taken less but I am fine with his deal. Nylander looks like a steal right now, and Tavares is still a point a game guy.
Sure, I agree that not all his signings worked out but to say I didn't explain the path - please help me here.

16. Are you for real? Your first post has none of that in it and that is why I and others asked you to explain. I gave multiple examples of his failures. I read your response a couple of times and it is a vague and confusing explanation of what good he has done while making a weak attempt to mock me. For the second time you have tried to do this recently I might add.
You were asked to provide an example of his great drafting, and you gave none.
As for Amirov, it is not about him unfortunately having cancer. The mistake was the Leafs needed a big right shot RD and he drafted another small skilled forward instead. Schneider was also ranked higher on I believe every draft ranking out there.
You have explained nothing and given no examples yet still insist you have.
Anyhow. I am done with this discussion as it is going nowhere.

What has dubas done to make this team the real deal… he brings in bottom six guys while carrying the same core guys defence and forwards, and we’re not getting a different result. And this year is no different they’re still to inconsistent and look how good Boston is look how good the rangers are Tampa….

Dubas is no genius!

A 1st round pick, a 2nd round pick, plus 4 “B” players seems like an overpayment for McCabe (a 2nd pairing defender) unless Chicago is taking back a chunk of his $4 million dollar contract for the next 4 years.
