Separate deals would need to be made to shed salary, or maybe get double retention (ie Domi, Kampf, Reaves waived etc), but Dobson is everything the leafs need and Pageau fills the 3C. got to give to get but Dobson is worth it. I’d even consider swapping Knies for Mcmann, but take Cowan out for a lesser prospect. IMO a power forward is easier to replace than a true top pairing RD.
In the offseason chairs can be moved around…maybe even a Mo trade.
If the leafs are trading significant assets, I’d much rather use multiple ones in a bigger deal for a younger player, than something like a B Schenn trade.

McTavish is a perfect fit. Your 2C of the now and future. Do we have enough to make a compelling offer? He’s a guy I would absolutely include Cowan for.

I agree. Gonna cost a bit but he is young and able to make a positive difference now. He has some jam to his game too. I still think the trade I posted a little earlier for McTavish was a little stronger. ? great minds think alike.

Hrenklin, I think you’re wrong on how fans feel about Marchand. He’s a classic, “hate playing against him, would love him on my team” guy. He also happens to be exactly what this team needs.
I’d much rather Marchand for 3 years than Bennett on a 7 year deal.

Doesn’t solve our two biggest needs and costs too much for a rental. If the Leafs had tons of assets, maybe. But with what they have you can’t give up Cowan + 1st for him.
