I hear Arizona is willing to take some cap back.

To Arizona
Ritchie $2.5M
Dermott $1.5M (RFA)
2023 3rd rounder

To Toronto
Lyubushkin $1.35M UFA

Arizona has a stock pile of picks for the 2022 draft, so I proposed a pick for the 2023 draft instead to help off set the Ritchie pickup. Plus they get a younger Dman who is signed for one more year and is cost controlled.

Leafs pick up a bottom pairing Dman who brings some size and physicality to the back end. Plus they gain $2.65M in cap space.

Thoughts?

I can't say I really know enough about Lyubushkin. From what I have seen, his game is fairly simple which is a positive. Is he good, or does he look good on a bad team?
As for the value of the deal. The issue will be Ritchie's contract. His cap hit is $2.5M which shouldn't be an issue, but he is owed $3.3M in real dollars next season. Not sure if Arz will take contracts that are much higher in real dollars over cap hit.

@RLF I haven't seen much of him as well, but I do like what he's done during the games I have.
Scouting report does say that he keeps his game simple and is pretty reliable. Also that he moves the puck well and is phyical. I've seen a couple of his hits during the games I've watched. And also seen a crushing hit he made on Rielly on a you tube video.
I think he would be a good player to take a flyer on if Arizona were to take on the extra money above Ritchie's AAV.

@Tagz. Yea, I have liked what I have seen and the scouting report you read seems to match what I have seen in a limited capacity (half a dozens times or so), so maybe I actually go this one right. lol
My gut says he would be a good add because he takes on the defensive role, he plays the PK etc.

I like the idea. Have heard of him but I don't watch Arizona even if it's the only game on lol. I just don't see a point.

I like the trade but I think you may need to retain a little bit on Ritchie just to even out real money. As RLF said, they don't like paying.

Thanks for the positive feedback. Hopefully Dubas decides to target him.
@RLF you definitely must have been a scout
@LifesLife great idea of retaining to help even out deal. Possibly Leafs retain $500K and we still gain $1.65M cap space.

RLF you commented saying I fire the first shot. Your the one that fires the first shot. Every article I say you give me negative feedback everytime.

Giddy up
Any deal that relieves leafs of boat anchor Ritchie and head case no hockey iq dermott is a go for me
Retain 25 percent of Ritchie if needed.

I am a fan of Lyubushkin and agree that he is a good trade target for the Leafs.
A team leader in hits and blocked shots.
But if you want him and the Coyotes to take back Dubas’ mistake (Ritchie) it will cost more than Dermot and a 3rd I would imagine.
I’m sure the Coyotes would love to have Matthew Knies an Arizona boy and current member of the US Olympic hockey team.

@adam. Are you serious? Is this your attempt to have people turn on me or something?

@Tanner.

Why are you even commenting that on someone's prop that isn't even RLF.

Everything in this comment thread has been extremely respectful and I believe most of us even thought it was a good deal.

As in, this prop is better than any prop you have ever personally come up with.

@Adam. You have your facts wrong.
You posted on one of my trade rumours that it is the worst trade you have ever heard. I had never posted anything like that on one of yours prior. If you can find where I have, be my guest to point it out. Then you made a trade proposal that imo, was really bad and I posted that is great when guys who call others trade proposals brutal or the worst they have ever seen pop out beauties like this one after another.
Then in retaliation you post in the talk section that you are now demanding that myself and two others not comment on your posts and insinuate you are speaking for the rest of the site.
Those are actual facts. How you conclude that "I" am the one who is the instigator I have no idea.
I am not going back and forth with you. I said my piece in response to your factless diatribe in the talk section. I was done with it then. You can't seem to move on. That's on you.

I think Adam's little feelings got hurt. took RLF's critic way to seriously about what he thought about a couple of his trade proposals. i read them and agree with what RLF. sometimes reading people's comments on here can feel like you are being picked on and attacked. but Adam if you want to participate in these chats don't take them 2 seriously. it's all for fun. and not everyone will like what you suggest.

I am a big fan of Lyubushkin and would love to see the Leafs acquire him.
One of the team leaders in hits and blocked shots!
To get the Coyotes to take back an extra $2.65 million in salary you would probably have to up that 3rd round pick to a 2nd round pick or include Leaf prospect Matthew Knies who is an Arizona native and current member of the US Olympic Team.
