I do not want to see the Leafs trade for Karlsson.
That said I have read that San Jose prefers Leafs offer to those of Carolina, Pittsburg or Seattle.
Figuring out the money is the stumbling block it is said.
So I will press ahead

To Leafs: Karlsson ((20% retained = $9.2)

To San Jose:
One (1) year of Brodie ($5)
One year of Klingberg ($4.15)
Total: $9.15
One of Frazier Minten OR Easton Cowan, Robertson, Niemala, Leafs 2024 - 1st round pick.

@waterbuffalo. is that what the Leafs offer is? keep seeing this rumor sharks prefer the Leafs deal but nobody ever says what that deal might look like.

I see this rumour, and I pray it is not true.

I think it involves Nylander and Brodie if it happens though, with a 1st for additional retention.

@LL i agree. does not make sense especially after having spent 4mil on Klingberg. that money would have been better spent on Ryan Graves or even Matt Dumba. and now we are taking about removing Brodie. who is gonna play defense. Liljegren and Timmins. and why has no one signed Cal Foote yet. i'd take him over Timmins.

No interest in Karlsson unless enough moves can be made to have 6 million of his deal retained between SJ and another team .

loxley1972 Even with Brodie who is going to play D for the leafs?

I want Karlsson if Leafs have to pay $7.5M max

and they have to include Klindberg and Murray with:

something like 1st 24, Robertson, Niemela, Hirvonen maybe another B prospect.

Loxley, I think the hold up for cal Foote is the hockey canada investigation for world junior 2018. I'd love the leafs to at least give him a pto.

I also think the nhl is mostly in vacation mode till August and aren't doing too much grunt work.

Loxley1972

I was merely speculating what a Leaf offer might look like.
I have not heard any writer or blogger define what Leafs ‘acceptable’ offer might be.
This was merely my thoughts on a possible trade.
I am not keen on trading for Karlsson but neither was I a fan of signing Klingberg.
Would I prefer one year of Klingberg to 4 years of Karlsson?
A good question and one I would have to put some serious thought into.

If Leafs could send Klingberg ($4.24) and Murray ($4.7) instead of Brodie to San Jose along with picks and prospects, I would lean towards Karlsson.

@waterbuffalo I was simply asking cause I recently read an article saying those exact words. "sharks seem to prefer leafs offer"but as usual. it dud not go into detail. thought maybe you found a similar article and were posting what the offer was. that's all.

@hrenklin. is Foote part of that team as well. I may have to go find that roster. is Comtois also a pat of it. cause I am surprised he is still hanging around.
