A defensive socialist and shot blocking machine will really boost our PK. This is a good compliment to Reilly in the same way hainsley was. And long term makes Brodie expendable should we need to move out cap space.

Why would Montreal give a solid top 4 D away (with term) at a good AAV for peanuts. Montreal has prospects too, why would they want our average ones? Has to make sense for both teams.

a case could be made for niemela to be traded vs villenueve. the real problem, is no one give any constructive feedback, its either yes, no, or ill have what your having.

I firmly believe the top targets for the leafs should be:

1) gibson, really started playing like rubbish when after baeuchemin, and montour left anaheim.
2) dumba/ savard (or both)
3) reese johnson, faceoff man cheap contract, hits (chi)

assets im okay with moving

Nylander. robertson, mcmann, niemela, abruzzese, laggeson, villenueve, niemella, steeves, hildeby, 1 of minten/ easton, 1st rd pick (if term is coming back), any player under 6 foot.

samsonov will be gone if we havbe a solid goalie coming back for cap purposes.

Niemala, a 22 year old RHD just starting his career for a 33 year old Savard who is nearing the end of his career would be a terrible mistake.
If Montreal is interested in Villeneuve and Abruzzese and maybe up the sweetner to a 2024 - 3rd, fine.
Otherwise let some other team sacrifice their youth.

It would have to be a spectacular offer before Leafs should even consider include Nylander, Niemala, Minten, Cowan or Hildeby in any trade.
Certainly not for aging, over 30 year old, formerly above average players when they were younger.

That’s what Leafs have been doing for the past 6 decades and what has it gotten them?
Not even a sniff at the Stanley Cup!

If it has to be a spectacular offer to move Nylander, does that mean you are good with the Leafs giving Nylander $10M+ for 8 years to make sure Leafs keep him? I think we can be pretty sure Nylander will want a full No move included.

@RLF I would personally rather pay Nylander $10/ $10.5M for 8 years, instead of paying Marner $12.5/ $13M for 8 years.

Good target in Savard but please dont compare to Hainsey

i watch most games and pick certain players and all their mistakes, bad passes, poor coverage, dumb penalties etc and check on fool scap with clipboard
Hainsey averaged 17 + per game
Holl averaged 12 +
Brodie averages 11+ per game.

Savard is far more steady than Hainsey ever was by far But l would love the Leafs to acquire him and he is right handed a big bonus!
