So my thoughts are the leafs need a top rhd if they plan on doing much dermott has been ok but he's not ideal manson is big plays mean and can give Reilly some freedom to do his thing, as for the return we send holl back for cap reasons he can play good minutes on a team that isn't looking to contend this year another piece is prospect niemela who was best dman at the world juniors last year and is killing it in Finland 18pts in 20gp my thing is we already have the style of player he is so he could be a good trade asset to a young rebuilding team conditional 2nd would be if the leafs make it past a certain point in the playoffs or if he resigns if those don't happen leafs give up a third in 2023

Right now leafs have 4 players up front that can score. If the opposition holds them off the board the leafs can’t win. So I think Dubas has to use the remaining 8 pieces to bring in more scoring. Then whatever they lose off roster they can bring up from Marlies. Ho Sang and the top 4 forwards on Marlies are of equal talent to the bottom 8 forwards on leafs roster.

If this roster isn’t contenting this year how do they contend next year or year after tell me. What do leafs have in pipeline that puts them over the hump in the near future . Defence isn’t issue bottom 8 forwards are issue 1A Goaltending is probably issue 1B getting the goalie from Carolina was worse than getting Richie. Now DUBAS doesn’t have 4 million to pay Campbell next year and why would he take less than the other guy tell me.

Ok doom and gloom calm down the leafs have depth scoring the 4th line has been getting a lot of quality chance just have had them go in Spezza has what 3-4 goals the third line is not meant to score and if they do it’s a bonus as for the contending comment I was talking about the ducks let say the leafs tried to move any of the bottom six none of those players have enough value to get and upgrade and we don’t have the picks the leafs have some player in the pipe just too early to tell Campbell is a starter and has played like one he will be resigned mrazek was rushed back that’s why he’s hurt again it’s a good opportunity for Woll.

Have to agree with L1994 here.
Scoring front he top 6 has historically been the thing that sinks this team. Boston, CBJ, MTL doesn't matter, oddly enough depth scoring is never a problem. The stars seem to fall apart in the playoffs.
The other issue with saying "You only have 4 guys scoring" is that every team can say this. Take McDavid and Frias away from EDM. Kucherov and Stammer away from Tampa. super rline from Boston. MacKinnon and Rantanen from Colorado. The list goes on and on.
You win and lake on your stars and your goalie, that's just hockey into his world. Depth moves the needle when it needs too.
I think it's more of a situation where if MNM+JT cancel out the top 6 of Boston, who has the better depth? Years past it's looked more like the top 4 just loses us series.

Manson is a defensive zone guy for sure, so if you think you can make a solid shutdown D pairing with him, then it may be worth it.

I don't think Manson is worth risking a good prospect like Niemela. this fan base falls in love with guys either on the team already or that he see from other teams cause they had a good season. Manson has been on people's radar for the past 4 or 5 seasons. i personally think he is not as good as he was and would not make that big of a difference.

Sorry Leafs1994.can't convince me. still think Manson is over rated and not as good as he once was. he's just another white whale Leafs fans are dying to acquire. just like Ho-Sang was. Manson is not the answer.
