chi: murphy (50%), 2026 4th rd pick

murphy at 2.2m for the rest of the season should help with our defensive injuries. this would allow mccabe to shift back to the left side with him on a rubbish down pair until tanev comes back. then he can work with OEL or rielly.

if the leafs continue to flounder he could be flipped again for a draft pick at the deadline at another 50%. hed have some solid value down the stretch.

A 6'3 RHD that blocks shots, hits people is garbage as our right handed down are all broken with no immediate time table for return. Sound like what's garbage is your thinking.

Murphy would be a good addition to the Leafs back end, but I doubt very much that Chicago lets him go for the return of McMann and Villenuve.
But …
If it can be done somehow, it makes the Leafs a better team.

Playing playing 3dd pairing minutes. Down 6 minutes from last season. Chicago is very much playing their young players. The return of McMann is a 2 way option. You have a 20 goal scorer that you could look at resigning, or a 20 goal scorer that could be moved at the deadline for another draft pick while retaining a developing RHD that is perfect for Chicago's timeline.
