LA picks up a youngish forward who has shown glimpses of being able to score, although not consistently. LA could use some scoring help. Robertson gets the change of scenery he hoped for in the past(and maybe still).

Toronto gets a vet 4th liner in Malott who will drop the gloves and play physical who should fit well with Lorentz and Laughton. Also a youngish, big D-man with offensive upside in Bolduc. They will clear some cap space as well

I like the trade, except Malot is a LW and it would be nice to see the Leafs finally acquire a couple of RW’s to fill the need.
Leafs have Knies, Cowan, Joshua, Lorentz, McMann as well as Robertson on the left side while they have only 1 1/ 2, right shooting forwards on the whole team. (Nylander, Jarnkrok)

Still, I have long said, Robertson deserves to be traded to a team that will give him the ice time in their top 6 số he can develop his consistency.
A nice touch is that Robertson is from California so he would be going home which would be highly motivating.
Seems worth a try.
