Leafs trade:
Kapanen ceci gauthier 2020 second
2021 third
Anaheim trade:
Fowler terry 2020 fifth
Fowler is a solid RD that will complete our top 4
Terry can replace kapanen.

Im not a huge fan of this deal. Fowlers contract will be insane in 2-3 years while kapanen will continue to grow as a player.
Fowler is really good and would make the leafs top 4 better so its not like the value is there. i'm just saying i personally don't like Fowlers contract. Other people might not care for his contract and want him because he is an upgrade from Ceci.
i do like getting rid of gauthier in this deal just so babcock won't use him as much as he does. if he isn't there than no more 10 minutes for the Goat. Terry I think will fall down the depth chart for the leafs and there will be a battle of 4-6 guys for 1 job.
overall not a bad proposal.

For all the reasons stated by Craigger I would probably pass. Kapanen looks to be a lot like another Kapanen I used to watch lol he will probably never be a "Marner" type of guy but looks to be a perrenial 20 goal scorer on a decent contract. I am loathe to give that up for Terry and Fowler especially when it's losing a second and a third as well. Leafs are already running short on picks because they keep losing 1sts need some kind of picks to restock the cupboards.

I’m not a huge fan of the Fowler contract either. Too long, and for too much. He’s so injury prone too. Anaheim took a chance with that signing. If they would retain salary it might he would make a good option. Otherwise I think he should be avoided for now. I hate the thought of trading Kapanen, but it may be a necessary evil. Obviously he won’t bring back a top line player, but a second pairing defenseman like Fowler might be got. I have a hard time seeing Terry replace Kapanen right now, but he is another good bottom six guy that looks like he can be a steady player in the nhl.

So the leafs r trading the best player in the deal by far in Marner plus your giving them liljegren one of our top D prospects
Big overpayment by the leafs hard pass
Take out liljegren and replace steen with Thomas or Sanford and maybe there can be a deal made there.

Just pay the kid he’s earned it
Leafs will fall apart without Marner
Matthews got payed missing games and a no show in last years playoffs (2018)
Marner is hands down leafs best player.

I agree with craigger
Everyone hated on nylander because he held out and 100% had a horrible season but if u trade a guy like Willy it will come back to haunt u
Yes chabot is a great offensive defenceman but we have those in Reilly and now Barrie
Btw dermott is a perfect second line pairing for years to come and Hyman is a great complementary player on a great deal so therefore I like chabot and white but I wouldn’t pull the trigger on this deal.
