After next year Brodie and Muzzin expire they can resign Giodano and Holloway is the next defenceman that will graduate

Holmberg Timmins Robertson have al graduated. Remember Robertson just turned 21 in sept. He put up better numbers in JR than his brother.

Let's pump the brakes on Hollowell. He is still a long shot to become a regular NHLer. He was starting to look overwhelmed the more he played. Let's also remember that Timmins is not often seeing the tougher competition. He is being sheltered some as he gains experience. He looks like a real find, but I want to see more of him before I would claim him to be a definite full-time NHL d-man.

As Randy and RLF have pointed out, Gio will hit the wall at some point, time and time alone. And Hollowell isn't winning any Norris' in his career.

Holl eats minutes, suppresses shots and PK's. He's also on the wrong side of thirty (as is Brodie) and neither one is going to dazzle through the back half of their careers, but at least you know what you have with them.

Holl is getting up in years I agree with you and it might mean leafs don’t extend him. Holl will want 4 plus years as Campbell did and leafs won’t do it.

We can see MUZZIN IS DONE and BRODIE is starting to hit a wall as well. The leafs are turning many MARLIES into LEAFS. The team has several more defencemen on the farm that may break through

Several of these guys will make the jump also next season Muzzin and Brodie expire that’s another 11 million in cap space

I’m 60 and I can never remember the farm system ever producing like it is now in 2023. If Matthews and Nylander were to walk leafs could regroup quickly as they will have lots of cap space.

At the end of next season Leafs will only have 4 players under contract
Marner Tavares Reilly Jarnknok if they lose the big two they will have over 50 million in cap space plus many players on Entry level deals.

@DM the issue with Marlies defenceman is, it's quantity over quality. Dahlstrom, Topi, Hollowell, etc are all bottom pairing guys. You need a replacement for Brodie/ Muzzin/ Holl.
