Buchnevich plays 2C. Then Leafs target Stamkos & Montour UFA's. I think this should fit under next year's cap.

St. Louis gets the best player, plus 2 young cost controlled RFA players.

Man this is almost as bad as the huberdeau to Toronto trade posted yesterday. Parayko has a little bit of value buchnevich is mehh. Marner is a top 10 rw in the league. I am all for getting rid of him but not for this package.

Marner is a Toronto born player he axed 2 offer sheets I would have a hard time believing he would sign an extension to play for another team…just saying.

I think it improves the team, but I don't want Parayko. I'm really scared of that contract becoming a boat anchor.

I get whatbyoure saying about the boat anchor, buy its going to happen with any UFA defenseman we pickup.
They all want term 7/ 8 years.
Parayko will be 31 this season, with 6 more to go, so 36 in final season.
Pesce will be 30 next season and want 7/ 8 year term probably at same price, which will bring him to 36/ 7yr term or 37/ 8yrs.
Roy will be 29 next season, which will bring him to 35/ 7yr term or 36/ 8yrs (maybe he costs slightly less) .
Anyways, either way you slice it, we will be carrying someone into their mid to late 30ies regardless (that is if Leafs Go for an actual top2/ top4 Dman) .
My thinking, if we could get Parayko at 10%/ 15% discount, the AAV may be a bit lower than the other options.

Marner to me should get this on his own if it comes with an extension as Buchnevich doesn't have an extension included. I'd still probably pass.
