Going off WB49's prop of sending Marner to Anaheim. I don't think Gauthier is available though.

Ana
Marner $10.89M

Tor
Colangelo $.925M
Leason RFA
2024 2nd

I know trading Marner is a popular belief atm.

It does help create space for a big UFA signing which works for me.

Colangelo has size and scoring at lower levels but has played only 3 NHL games. Leason is a big boy for sure but is not overly physical and is not a good skater. A 2nd round added doesn’t overly excite me.

I’m lukewarm on the deal.

Have to agree with Rsears. Not a great return.

I will add though, it's probably the best I can hope for if we don't want a bad contract coming back, and/ or major retention.

I am not familiar with either Colangelo or Leason so I will have to do some research.

Mostly I want at least one player in return for Marner who isn’t a rookie on an ELC, who can step into the lineup and make an immediate difference.
If Anaheim is not open to trading Cutter Gauthier then I would want Mason McTavish as part of the return.

Was just looking up some info on Sam Colangelo.
6’2”, 210lbs, right wing, 22 years old from the 2020 draft looks very interesting.

Now I will track down Leason.

Leason is a big fellow at 6’5”, 218lbs, but from what I read his skating isn’t great and still needs improvement.
At 25 years of age that is not likely to happen.

I think Leafs need more of an impact player in return for Marner.
Ducks have Zegras, Carlsson, McTavish and now Cutter Gauthier as centers.
Leafs don’t want problem child Zegras messing up the dressing room but I wonder if Ducks might make McTavish available for Marner.
McTavish could take over from Tavares as Leafs 2nd line center dropping Tavares to 3rd line center for the final year of his contract.

WB49. His skating has improved, especially straight line speed. He has also become better at using his body and being more physical. He kills penalties and has become pretty good defensively. As I'm sure you know, it takes big guys longer quite often. Just turned 25 and could become a solid 3rd liner putting up 15-25 goals while playing a solid defensive game and helping the PK.

My prop isn't a great return for Marner. It does create cap space and possible solid return.
