New Jersey trades 2nd

Leafs sign Brodie

We dump cap to sign Brodie. We also recover some picks. We might still need to dump another cap casualty even, depending on what our free agents all sign for.

Calgary would trade a 1st for Kapanen. They are desperate for scoring right shot forwards.

Jersey might pay a 2nd for Johnsson. He helps them immediately. I guess it depends on if they want to try to be competitive now or if they think they are still rebuilding. If not Jersey, whatever team you think wants him for whatever the highest pick we can get for him.

I mean I would want to see where Calgary’s pick is first but I guess I would do it depending on how Mikheyev and Robertson do during training camp and how good we think Barbanov will be.

If New Jersey will do that then I don’t see why the leafs wouldn’t go for it. It will basically be like a late first round pick so why not right.

Also I would still prefer a proper right handed shot to Brodie but Brodie did play the right side so I would be okay with it if no other options were available.

Handedness doesn't mean a lot. Hainsey played well as a left hander.

Not sure about those trades. I don't see jersey wanting Johnson. Calgary probably take that though.

Calgary may want a protection clause on that 1st since if a team gets put out in 1st round they know they have a lottery chance at 1st. Although odds of getting that pick for any of those loser teams is still very small its at least bigger than it was a few days ago. Smart teams protect that 2020 1st until that 1st round is over. Anything can happen on the rink and in a spinning tube with balls in it

Other than that pretty solid trades and brodie pickup improves leafs D corp quite a bit.

Trade deadline is over Craigger. Lol. This would have to take place in the offseason after the playoffs. I'm not sure when they are holding the draft, but it sure sounds like they are holding it before the playoffs are over. So I don't think any trades will be made on draft day. If we could do this after the playoffs on the day of the draft, it would be a good one to swing for.

I don't imagine any team will trade a 1st unless it's at least top 5 protected from now on after seeing first Ottawa last year and San Jose this year get burned. Lol.

Yeah, still getting use to playoffs being done before draft. Does this mean no trades on draft day since deadline has past and hockey is still going

I think that's what is going to happen. No trades unless it involves non-roster players and picks. Kinda sucks. But from what I'm hearing, they are going with the draft before the playoffs. Since there might not even be a playoffs, they are trying to drum up revenue any way they can.

From what I’m hearing because I can’t read is that they will finish the qualifying round, playoffs, award Stanley cup. Then do draft Nov 1. Free agent frenzy would also be in November. With a flat cap it will be fun to watch pietrangelo and hall sign for 5 million per lol. Poor babies. Trades can start after the Stanly Cup has been awarded.
Next season would start Jan 1 2021.
This all makes a lot of sense, maintains integrity as in past years just the dates are obviously different.
But explain how the draft drums up revenue? Are tickets being sold? What kind of revenue is had? You are the second one to say that. I asked the other person that same question but they didn’t respond. Probably because they had no clue.
I did mention Earlier in one of my intelligent posts that The draft was awesome and they should do that format every year. Rewards those on the cusp the chance of 1st overall. You are almost in the playoffs nice try here’s your reward.
