We address our two most pressing needs. These guys won’t be expected to perform right away. We have Kuemper to buy us two years to figure out what Askarov can do. And Barron has just as much chance as Schneider at developing into the stud RHD we need. He too has good size and good prospect reports. We would need to use the cap space saved in this deal along with the money from the Kapanen trade, to put towards signing a 1RHD. This would get us within striking distance.

Schneider is a great player prospect. Of course he is. But so is Barron. Barron brings the same thing to the table that Schneider does, and he is not much further behind in terms of talent and ability.

I’m Askarov is a franchise goalie in the making. Another sore spot for the Leafs for a number of years has been the goalies. I’d really like to see them take the bulls by the horn and draft that young goalie that is a can’t miss. We need to replace Andersen. And the sooner the better. In the meantime, we have Kuemper to hold down the net spot for a couple years until Askarov is ready.

Sorry for the long multi-trade proposal. I don’t normally do so many trades in one posting. It gets difficult to keep track. I prefer to post my individual trades separate. And then see what the response is. After a couple different attempts and have a good feel at what might work, I assemble them into a overhaul, something like this. It’s just confusing and hard to keep track of the moving parts. In the end, the team never looks much better and you’ve lost 2 guys somewhere.

So Freddie is going to accept a trade that sends him to Arizona and Arizona is going to trade their #1 with two years left on his contract at a lower cap hit for a #1 on an expiring contract that will want a raise? That should get a No from ARZ.
Johnsson may be worth a 2nd, so two 2nds=the 18th OA pick? NJ should say No.

Third one seems plausible, but banking on getting certain players in the draft and banking that they are around at the pick you have. is hopeful at best.

Yes, the 1M in real money would be tempting to ARZ, but you still have to ice a team. They have No cap space with only 17 players signed and are likely to sell off there 30+ year olds with higher cap hits, not add.
Keumper at 4.5 is money well spent. His real cash this year is only 3.5. They would likely love to move any of Kessel, Stepan, Grabner, Goligoski etc before moving Keumper.

Thomas 75 points 136 games
One of these first 2 is a point every other game kind of player and one is not. Johnsson is closer to being equal to thomas than sandford is to johnsson. So why don't we do johnsson and a 4th for thomas instead? Does that work for you? And don't come back at me with thomas is a centre, he hasn't played centre all year. He is going to be like nylander and marner, came into the league a centre but a better fit on the wing, the main difference is he doesn't have marner or nylander's skill.

Johnson is not in any way shape or form close to thomas. Lol you kill me brah. Thomas is a center for a defense first team. He is 21 and had 42 points in 66 games at 20 years old. Johnssons best year he had 43 points in 73 games at 24 while playing left wing with taveres or mathews. hmmmmm but yeah they are the same.
