LA needs a goalie, we need a top 4RHD.

LA had Doughty & Clarke on the right side & were probably not going to re-sign Roy.

Leafs are going to gamble on Woll (very limited NHL experience & injury prone) & Jones. It's a big risk, but hopefully we can re-sign Roy moving forward.

Who needs to add?

I proposed this exact trade two weeks ago.
I like the idea a lot.
Samsonov in a less pressure filled environment (Toronto vs LA) might be the answer to Kings goaltending woes and Matt Roy does not appear to be a candidate to be resigned this summer.
What’s to lose?
Win/ Win for both teams.

You thunk Sammy has that kind of value?

I find it so difficult to evaluate goalies (as I'm sure we all do) .

I'd make this trade if it was available.

I still don't understand the whole LA is desperate for a goalie thing. They have the 2nd least goals given up in the whole Western Conference. Their biggest problem is a lack of scoring, which is why they are frustrated with Kaliyev's lack of finish.
Roy is a 21+ min a night D-man that penalty kills. I can't see the Kings wanting to move him for Sammy.

Ckps. At the TDL this IS a blockbuster. Name how many bigger deals you see at the TDL. I'm pretty sure you won't find many.

I am loathe to give up one RHD for another who is better but not by a wide enough margin.
If the trade could be done while keeping Liljegren and adding Matt Roy, I would be all for it.

Reilly - Roy
Brodie - Liljegren
Benoit - McCabe
Giordano - Timmins - Lagesson

Would make me more comfortable
By trading Liljegren Leafs would still be left with only one true RHD.
I think that is a recipe for disaster.
