some lil moves

Colorado trades:

D-Sam Malinski
$1.4 M

RW- Cooper Gay
$873 K

For:
Simon Benoit
$1.4 M

N. Robertson
$1.8 M

Vegas trades
Keegan Kolesar
$2.5 M

Vegas gets:

Bobby McMann
$1.4 M

Ben Danford
$932 K

Kolesar has chemistry with the Roy. Add in Dakota for the third line and maybe now you see a picture forming.

Malinski is a puck moving D man with upside can play the right hand side allowing OEL to be on his left.

We don't have a lot of prospects but G Cooper adds to it as a huge young player with hands who also shoots right.

Those both seem like overpays by the Leafs imo.
Malinski is barely an NHLer and not really a point producer. Gay may become a bottom 6 NHLer eventually.

Although I like Kolesar, McMann and Danford is a big overpay for a 3rd line winger with a career high 12 goals in a season where he averaged around 8 before last year. Do we really need Kolesar wince picking up Dakota, Roy, Pazetta?

No way you include Danford in that deal.

Malinski is a versatile defenseman recognized for his quick skating, puck-moving skills, and two-way play. He's also a physically strong player who isn't hesitant to get in front of the net and block shots.

As For Koselar I feel the target is worth the fetch and maybe in order to do it, it takes Danford, overpay or not. Sometimes targets are worth the fetch in order to have a great 3rd line.

Pez doesn't make the third line greater by any means imo. oh well.

Cooper Gay

The Edina, Minnesita, native combines strong hands with impressive skating ability, using both to generate speed through the neutral zone and navigate around opponents.

His imposing size, 6-foot-5 and over 220 pounds at 23 years old, further enhances his game.

"When he attacks in the offensive zone, he can use his reach to prevent the defenseman from getting the puck. When the opponent is along the boards, Gay can shut them down quickly with a smashing hit that will knock them off of the puck. " -Vogt.

Absolutely no way Leafs send Danford to the Knights for a 3rd line winger.
I like Kolesar but that is a huge overpayment!

You r still not that guy lol.

Thatguy. Anyone can read a scouting report, that doesn't mean they become top players because the report talks abut the good that they do.

Malinski is a smallish (5'11") 3rd pair at best D-man. He was 26 before he cracked Colorado's lineup playing just under 16 mins a night, which is less than any Leafs D-man last season. He played very little PP or PK time. Is that really what the Leafs need?

Cooper Gay is a big man, no doubt. He is another undrafted guy that may or may not turn into something, but likely bottom 6 player if he does. A lot of his production last season came on the PP. Not much 5 on 5 production. He is going to need time to develop and get up to speed first at the AHL level and then if, and only if, he can do that, eventually a shot at the NHL level. He is about 50/ 50 to make the NHL.

And you want to give Benoit and Robertson for these two? No thanks.

Malinski as you say smallish doesn't mean he doesn't play hockey in a style we couldn't use. Maybe he can quarterback a 2nd line pp.

What I feel is important is that he can play the right side or left side.

Don't get me wrong I like Benoits heart but I'm sure Malinski has more to offer than Benoit.

You know, I'd love to see the same time on the ice Robinson gets and give it to Cooper. I bet that he shines more now, or eventually.

But that's my opinion I guess.
