The only issue with getting young guys and picks for Matthews/ Nylander is the age of the Leafs defence. You either use the gained assets (prospects/ picks/ cap space) to acquire proven players to improve now, or you are also rebuilding the defence, asking D-men to move on and going full rebuild except in net.
