CLB might do it, but I don't think Cal takes on a cap dump of more money just to get a late 2nd and 4th for Bennett. I would think they have already had offers that would at least equal that and turned them down.

2.) 04 Mar 2021 17:24:20
Is Kerfoot even worth a 2nd?

Or it added in for taking back Nash’s contract?

Because otherwise I don’t think Columbus has any interest in trading their future away for Kerfoot, who definitely is not going to turn that team around in a hurry any time soon.

So Reilly for a third line centre, a guy you’re not going to play, and a 1st? Nope I’ll pass thanks.

2.) 03 Mar 2021 07:57:35
Team looks worse after this.

3.) 03 Mar 2021 14:04:35
Yea, not getting the "how can we move Rielly" theme when he isn't a UFA until after next season.

4.) 03 Mar 2021 14:30:45
The reason I look at seeing what you can get for Reilly now is letting him walk for nothing, is how you become detroit in 3 years. I don't think Reilly gets you this package from LA in the off-season.

5.) 03 Mar 2021 16:19:47
I understand that AF7, but he doesn't walk until after next season at the earliest. Why not use him this season at least and have as strong a team as possible?

Tor: Reilly
La: bjornfot, vilardi, 2021 1st

1.) 02 Mar 2021 11:51:58
With the Leafs in 1st, just why? SMH.

2.) 02 Mar 2021 12:45:34
Yep, have to ask why?

3.) 02 Mar 2021 15:08:17
We need a 3C. And Vilardi would be a good one. But not seeing the need to trade Rielly for him yet.

The 1st makes this interesting though. LA could easily be a lottery team again this year. If that pick ends up being a top 5 pick, it would be a real treat.

4.) 02 Mar 2021 16:17:14
I should have been more clear on my question as I didn't mean why these players, I meant why do it now? This seems like a move you make if you were building for the future and not win now mode.

5.) 02 Mar 2021 17:14:14
If you lose Reilly in a year and a half for nothing, why not stock the cupboard a bit.

Add in a deal to move kerfoot and vesey and you're laughing. I'll repost this with a kerfoot trade.

Would you guys do

Tor: nylander 2021 1st
Ott: tkachuk 2021 7th

1.) 01 Mar 2021 23:51:38
Yes. But I don’t think Ottawa would.

2.) 02 Mar 2021 00:00:00
Yes but Ottawa would not.

3.) 02 Mar 2021 02:24:59
No chance Ottawa agrees.

4.) 02 Mar 2021 10:38:29
Really, you don't think that would be enough to pry him away? Interesting. I mean very different playstyles, but probably should have a similar trade value. So I thought going in with the first might be a bit much. Anyways thanks for the feedback Gents.

5.) 02 Mar 2021 13:23:11
I agree with the others. I look at is as if the role was reversed and No, I would o that trade to acquire Nylander.

6.) 02 Mar 2021 13:45:36
*not do that trade to acquire Nylander. *.

7.) 02 Mar 2021 13:57:26
ID be happy to overpay for Tkachuk from Ottawa willy won't do it but what about Willy and Roberson? and possibly a pick.

8.) 02 Mar 2021 14:24:23
Not sure why the hate on Nylander so much. He is a better goal scorer than Tkachuk at this time. I'll admit that Tkachuk brings a different element to the game.

Now, Tkachuk is an RFA after this year, if he signs LT and not a bridge, what will that cost the Sens, $7M - $9M?

Considering, Nylander is still signed for 3+ more years at $6.9M you'd have to be assured the deal would be in this range.

To add a 1st to Nylander, absolutely not from a Leafs point of view.

9.) 02 Mar 2021 15:27:37
It's not hate just because you don't like all aspects of a players game or value him as highly as others who don't produce as high of point totals. Nobody has denied that Willy has talent. We have seen what positive influences like Simmonds can do for a team. No one could possibly say that Willy is a positive influence. My opinion, is that he is a negative influence and it is wearing on some of his teammates.

He carries the puck and he can produce points. He has to be given 60% offensive zone starts because he cannot be trusted defensively. He is not small by any means, but he plays a game that a small player with skill has to play. His minutes are down almost 2 mins per game this year over last year even though we have had injuries. His coach has benched him for lack of effort. Those two things should tell you something about Willy.

When I say he is a negative influence, it is because as much as one players effort can be infectious, so can ones lack of effort. You have players wanting to win, and then you have Willy. As talented as he is, there is no doubt in my mind that his "whatever" attitude is wearing on some of his teammates that want to go to the next level.

After last playoffs, Matthews alluded to the team needing to want it more. Willy rarely looks like he would do whatever is necessary to win. He has done nothing to elevate his game and get better this year. Guys like Hyman, Matthews, Marner, Rielly etc who work hard to get better, probably can't stand Willy's lack of effort because they know if he put the effort in, he could really help the team.

It may be nothing, but when Nylander scored his two goals the other night, Marner didn't even really celebrate. The first one ties the game late and the other stars don't jump on Willy like they do each other. When Willy scores the OT winner, Marner was still sitting down on the bench when guys starting coming out on the ice. Do you think if Matthews had scored it, Marner is still sitting on the bench when every one starts to come on the ice?

I think there is dissention on this team toward Willy. Most want to win badly. Willy does not carry himself in a way that embodies winning. Tkachuk has all those other intangibles. Willy is looking like the next Hoffman and the numbers are eerily similar.

10.) 02 Mar 2021 19:10:27
Nylander was benched again last night. That’s twice this year.

Skill isn’t everything. Guts and leadership and ability to play a full game are more important.

Ottawa would never want a non-physical player like Nylander. They are an aggressive hard hitting team. Nylander has nothing they want in a payer. Nothing.

Let’s be honest
No way Dermott gets leafs vilardi

The nylander deal is solid but does Vancouver have the cap space

Bennett why not? Leafs need a guy like him come playoff time

Hit and miss
Still good targets.

2.) 28 Feb 2021 13:42:32
Blake has basically stated he will over pay for a PhD defence man lol.

3.) 28 Feb 2021 13:46:47
Fine we take Sutter as well.

4.) 28 Feb 2021 13:57:02
Yea, Dermott is not getting us Vilardi. I doubt Dermott and this years 1st get us Vilardi.

I like Hoglander and the cap space allows us to add still, but I don't think Van can do this even if the wanted too.

Shocker I know, I would do the Calgary deal in a second. Not sure Calgary can take on $2M though.
