I am totally on board with Campbell as the starter. He has actually got some really, really solid numbers over his career in spurts. I would have no issue giving him a chance.

Wasn't the rumour that Freddy for Hamilton was offered and Waddell laugh hysterically and hung up the phone? If not for that I love the trade.

Hutchison signing was so they have 2 goalies signed through 2021-22

Now they qualify to expose 1 and protect 1

Yea, I am sure that is the reason for signing Hutch. Although, I am not sure that guarantees him being picked. I think we lose a F or D (probably Dermott) unless other deals are made prior to the draft.

Dermott only qualifies for protection or expose if he gets extension during season

Remember players must be signed through 2021-22 season to qualify

Then there’s a games minimum as well for forwards and dmen

These are only players who qualify to be protected or expose

Mikheyev should hit 2 years games played requirement
Hyman would need to sign extension before draft
Vesey Simmonds spezza Thornton Dermott same
Lehtonen Bogosian need to play half year plus sign extension
Barbanov same
Engvall Brooks Anderson games requirement
Boyd petan malgin agnostino kossila games and extend
Kivihalme games
Rosen Marincin Warsofsky games and extend

So since Mikheyev should qualify I think
JT, AM, MM, WN MR, JM, TB and Campbell protected
Mikheyev and kerfoot 1 protect 1 expose
Holl exposed
Hutchison expose

They still need to expose 1 forward

1. I think Hyman only signs extension if he gets NMC 1st year so he has to be protected than Kerfoot and Mikheyev get exposed
2. If that option doesn’t happen leafs might pay a bit extra to extend 1 of the 1 year contracted forwards who meet games requirements simply to expose them. The extra money gives the player incentive to sign and leafs gamble as extra money could hurt cap next season if Seattle takes holl, hutch or other forward.
3. Last option is Anderson engvall or Brooks must play half year to qualify then expose the 1 that does so.

So still some work needs to be done but hey Hutchison did leafs a huge favor

I’m guessing leafs will pay Seattle a package of players to take Hutchison

Something like
Engvall, Brooks, kivihalme plus petan malgin RFA rights

That way Seattle gets 5 depth guys needed for system for very cheap money while leafs keep kerfoot Mikheyev and holl without giving up a pick

That’s my prediction
I could be way off but whatevs.

RFA’s qualify for the expansion draft. Lol. But Seattle might be reluctant to take him without knowing what his contract demands are.

HL. that's what I thought as well about RFA's qualifying. As long as they meet requirements, they qualify. Would seem odd that you can basically protect a player by having his rights but hold off re-signing until after the draft was over.

So not much changes for leafs forwards unless They protect Dermott to expose both Mikheyev and kerfoot

Either way work still needs to be done and hutch is awesome 4 helping leafs out lol.
