Why each of the other teams do it

Jersey may feel they are one major piece away from competing, they get by far the best player in the deal. They can also sign any of the goalies on the market.

Calgary needs a goalie and a body on defense, We add a defensive prospect that will get a shot with their depleted lineup.

Columbus wants to run merzlikins and needs someone to expose for the draft, they upgrade their 2nd and 4th to two additional 1sts

Carolina needs a little more punch of front, they have so many defenseman chomping at the gate pesce won't be missed that much.

Leafs are left with the 7th oa 15th oa and an additional 2nd from these moves

I mean that team just looks “meh” to me though, especially up front. I guess our future would be bright but I honestly can’t see the leafs winning the cup with that team.

If these deals were made I wouldn't do that korpisalo trade. In fact I wouldn't do it either way lol.

Looks to me like a small rebuild while still trying to contend. Looks to me like you saved enough salary by moving Marner to sign a couple guys though.

Lol, I only moved 2 forwards, fixed the goalies and the defenseman, left lots of space for signing free agents next year. I don't feel there are any forwards worth spending the money on. I think it's worth seeing what we have in barbanov and robertson before signing other forwards. We could trade a 1st for a supporting forward if need be. You could try and get more high round picks in the korpisalo deal.

Up front he traded Marner and Johnson lol. got to give to get. From what I have seen Mathews can drag a bag of pucks around the ice and make plays happen. Tavares always played with nothing in NY as well.

Only thing I would do is move both Nylander and Marner without bringing someone back. At least having one of them your still fine.

I would rather see if Dubas could draft Askarov with those two 1sts than trade them for Korpisalo. Even if it meant trading up.

NJ says No. They have to eat all of Marner's contract AND retain on Subban while giving up Blackwood a 7th and 18th overall in a deep draft. Bad trade for them.

Dermott is worth a 2nd or late first, so it is basically Freddie and a B level prospect for 19 OA and Bennet. Doubt Calgary does it.

Huge overpayment for Korpisalo.

Doubt Car moves Pesce for that as he is one of their best D.

My thing with Askarov is elkin is terrible at grooming goalies. So unless he is nhl ready we likely lose him to a sh! t goalie coach. Not sure if you saw in the post before but I went to his goalie school, they try and completely change your style of play, it'd be like taking nylander and telling him okay you are now learning to play like an enforcer. There is a chance askarov already plays the style elkin wants. But if not anything taught by any other coach is supposed to be dropped and you do what he wants. Also askarov might fall to the leafs at 15 anyways.

The other thing with the space I created, there are probably teams that will have to make a marleau like trade. Toronto can then strip them of a first. An example would be bozak out of st louis.

St louis trades 2020 1st and bozak
St louis then can afford to have their 40 million dollar D core.


Toronto trades kerfoot anywhere for a 2nd or a 3rd and a 5th.

You aren't going to sell bozak as a defensive player, he wins draws that's it, not a good player in his own end. Kerfoot has great advanced stats, he wasnt put on this team to score. If that's what we wanted we wouldve kelt kadri.

i like a lot of the elements in these trades especially getting the 7th and having the 15th oa to draft Askarov and Schneider. but i don't think Askarov falls to 15th. keep hearing Canes want him which is why they won't trade us baack our 13th. also dunno if jersey would want to retain all of PK's deal for that price

i like the idea of Bennett but will that get us a 19OA pick?

definately think Korpisalo is a good target if we are planning to go with a tandem team in net.

Still don't think canes want to trade Pesce. but he could be replaced by signing DeMelo

overall good ideas.
