Leafs trade Nylander, Dermott
Flyers trade Provorov, Gostisbehere

Rielly/ Provorov
Muzzin/ Holl
Sandin/ Ghost/ Lehtonen

Ghost is a, well, ghost of his former self. He is a more than capable bottom 4 though. Him and Holl can fight it out all year for who gets to play beside Muzzin.

Provorov is the real target. He’s the guy we want and need. Even if it means trading Rielly after. Try them on the same line together. If one of them can’t make the switch to RHD effectively, we trade Rielly for the RHD we need.

Agree0 Disagree1

I think the last thing the Flyers want is another $7M forward.

No thank you, swap both of those D for Sanheim and Myers and you have a deal.

The issue Toronto buds, Is nylander isn't a top talent in the league. You value him as if he is.

11 Sep 2020 15:02:39
Yes he isn’t but no way Philly is moving provorov ghost is not what we need either and they are both lhd this trade makes no sense for either team.

Well Randy he did score 31 goals this past year, so ya I do. 30 goal scorers don't grow on trees.

Lol yeah Provorov
Sure why not ask for him.

The issue with Nylander I think isn't Nylander himself. He actually had a tonne of takeaways as well as scoring 30+ in a shortened season. Issue is you can't have 10 guys like Nylander. If he was moved to the bruins you wouldn't even notice his issues because everyone else covers for it. When Kapanen, Johnson, Marner, etc. All have the same issue it shows as more of a glaring weakness.

This deal is good in theory. the value is pretty close for both sides. nylander for provorov is quite reasonable. Nylander and his actual salary owed for the duration of his contract are quite valuable. If you want a player to compare nylander to look no further than claude giroux. The way he skates, passes, enters the zone and shoots screems giroux. He can even play center like claude but like claude is better on the wing. Mr. Giroux was all razzle dazzle on offence with no care in the world to backcheck for first 7 years in the league. Then his age 28 year its like a light went off in his head and he started caring about backchecking. Now i'm not writing he is some all worldly defender, i'm just writing he is better than he once was at defence. Age and maturity did this. He may never hit 100 points again but i ask you this. Why not get a player so simular to how claude was offensively in his youth? Why not Nylander. Perfect replacement offensively. If they aquire nylander mr giroux can focus more on leading this younger team and mentoring nylander as his points won't ge as needed now. Losing Provorov could be worth getting a young version of giroux. Yes provorov could be a future norris kind of guy but philly is going to miss giroux as his play declined.

Dermott for ghost is also close. Put dermott with niskanen and he might have a stellar year, that's a good shutdown tandem. Sanheim and myers is a solid combo for many years. Philly finds a rhd to play with hagg and it won't ge a bad top 6. May not be as sexy as having provorov but still not bad considering now kovecny has a legit offensive threat to strike msjor fear on their dmen enemies. Kovecny was good. almost point a game but only got 24 goals. the nylander kovecny combo centered by big kevin hayes will be a deadly line. Now girouxs line can be a legit shut the other teams top line down while still producing at an ok pace. Then nylanders line comes out and dominates every teams #2 unit that coaches will start fearing this offence.

Why toronto says no. ghost contract and term for a guy worse defencively than barrie

Why philly says no. they just won't give up provorov . no matter how goid thst offence looks they may value their top defender more.

Craiger you are wrong.

This deal actually gains Philly cap space, so they actually could afford to make it. If they brought in Nylander, they would obviously try and find a way to dump JVR. Possibly even just exposing him for Seattle. A side deal could be made where Philly gives them a pick or prospect in return for them taking JVR from them. He is a one trick pony and nothing else. Glad we didn’t re-sign him. Still a little bitter we didn’t trade him for assets when we knew we didn’t have a contending team.

Does Philly downgrade from Provorov to Dermott in order to upgrade from JVR to Nylander (and unload Gostisbehere at the same time)? I think they would seriously have to contemplate it. They kill two birds with one stone by finding a replacement winger for JVR, while at the same time finally ridding themselves of Gostisbeheres contract. There is bound to be a team desperate for a guy that can put the puck in the net and not worry about his other shortcomings that would take JVR on. With the money saved in this deal, they can retain a couple million to make it more attractive and the salaries would be a wash for them in the end.

It might not be something they would do. But it’s far from a laugher.
