I think Hurricanes are looking for more top 6 offense if they trade Pesce.
Neither Jarnkrok nor Timmins give them that.
Plus the 1st round pick will be a very late selection in June 2024 and will not play for the team for another 3 - 4 years.
Can’t see Waddell being moved by this offer.

Knies is a rookie left wing.
Why put him at right wing on the 1st line and set him up for possible failure?
For the past 2 years Keefe has been trying to shoehorn Kampf into the 3rd line center slot and it has been an abject disaster.
Kampf is at best a 4th line center.

I have always felt that playing Nylander on the 3rd line is a waste of his talents.
Plus, Matthews should be playing with an elite winger not two, 3rd line players.
I am not sold on Gustafsson so I would prefer to see McCabe at LHD with Holl or Schenn and Giordano with Liljegren which has been a very good pairing for the Leafs in the regular season.
Yes, I know, Liljegren has been less than stellar lately but Giordano has the ability to fix that.

@RLF that's the 3 lines I've wanted since the TDL as well.
I'm more on board with stacking the top 6 against Boston, as I think there's a better chance Mathews line and Bergeron line cancel eachother out.
I'd like to see 3 lines grind down Tampa. They aren't the youngest team and they've played a tonne of hockey in the past 3 years.

I really like when the leafs run 7 defenceman and kinda put their forward lines in a blender. Makes it extremely hard to defend against and gives your big guy more playing time. Also keeps your defenceman fresh and can ride the hot hand/ s.

Take your pick on Lafferty or Kerfoot. I think Lafferty brings more to the table come playoffs. I also think Mathews brings the most out of Nylander the same way Marner does Tavares.

I’d try this for game 1 that top line has been driving the offence of late Tavares was better on the wing imo and the third line being an energy line as for the defence I’ve like McCabe so far and it seems like keefe is gonna stick with him and Brodie gio holl have been ok but we have seen them elevate their game and Reilly schenn round it out for me Reilly should be sheltered in the d zone and I think the leafs need schenns physical play schenn plays at home liljgren plays on the road. I would say knies may not play but if they need some offence he might draw in.

I don't think Kerfoot and Engvall have no value, it just isn't as much as it was previously. I just don't see where FLA would need Engvall over Gudas atm. I'm sure they would love to move Hornqvist, but I'd rather have Engvall, especially considering cap hits.

The problem is that Florida are looking to activate duclair to their active roster. So they need to bring back an ahl level return, pick or waiver exempt prospect.

@LL. There value is in a trade for an existing contract. imo
For a pick, the other team also has to eat the contract and cap hit. I would look to trade them for players that are underutilized where that team has depth in that position. Why I said STL for Mikkola. Also why I throw Trenin out there a lot. They won't have much value for a pick alone.

I don't think it looks too bad. The D is a concern and I would have different lines and D pairings, but if we start the year with this lineup, so be it.

@RLF Agreed, they can only have a 20 man roster with the players they have now. So more than likely Timmins & possibly McMann or Gambrell would be lost to waivers.
I would keep D the same, but put Domi at 3C even though Tre said he would be a winger. Domi has played more C in his career than wing.

@Tags. I had thought about Domi at centre as well. The issue is that Domi isn't really a very good centreman. Up until recently, he struggled on the dot. He also isn't very physical, he doesn't block a lot of shots and he isn't very big. 3rd line is usually a defensively responsible line and I would worry about Domi as my 3C, but not worry as much on the wing. He may make the top 6 as a winger.
Maybe they see McMann and Knies on the wings with Kampf down the middle. Who knows.

@RLF you're right, who knows. Your guess is as good as mine.
I'd like the 3rd line to be a sheltered scoring line and maybe they can switch Lafferty and McMann so they have 2 good defensive players with Domi, who can both play offensively as well.
I don't think the 3rd and 4th lines will be set-in stone throughout the game/ season. I'm sure Keefe will interchange lines depending on situation.
I understand the addition of Reaves, but he really doesn't fit with the
types of players we have.
An ideal defensive line easily should be:
Lafferty Kampf Jarnkrok
Reaves on this line makes most sense to me
McMann Lafferty Reaves.

Yep. That's the lineup. Except that 3rd line is the worst 3rd line in hockey and actually a 4th line.
Samsonov is coming back as well, he was qualified.
That defence really scares me. I know we all liked to hate on Justin Holl for his deficiencies, but he's still better in his own end than Klingberg (that hurts to say) .
I'd really like to know what the plan is on the PK. Other than Brodie and possibly McCabe I don't want any of them trying to kill penalties against top teams.

This is a line up destined to not be in the top 8 in the east. Murray and Woll as your goalies. 8 d men all who stink at actual defending. and the fwds well when you have to pencil Reaves in as your 3rd line winger you are in deep doo doo. Not to mention they have 1 true left winger currently. OH yeah almost forgot . After wasting that $$$ on Kampf Reaves and the ridiculous 4.15M on Klingberg (An older version of Rielly) they have 480K left to spend. SO far Treliving I thought I'd never say it but I'm missing Dubas a little bit here.

just because Samsonov id qualified does not mean hes coming back NOT EVEN CLOSE. all it does is it guaranteed he would not be an UFA on July 1st. A team can give him an offer sheet just now the leafs can match and on their own still negotiate. If the $$$ can not be negotiated upon Samsonov sits and awaits a trade .
