The Pens are going to be near bottom this season and with McKenna going first overall Pittsburgh may sell talent off roster near deadline. They need people in seats so selling now might hurt attendance.

This has a risk as if WOLL suffered a serious injury it could be a problem but I'm willing to take that risk. The Oilers are in desperate need of a top NHL goalie so Edmonton might do this. Also the Leafs will know now if Stolarz will extend or he is walking the Leafs to free agency .
There is no way I allow Stolarz to get to free agency if Toronto could extend Stolarz then I switch the trade and move Woll instead of Stolarz. Edmonton would do the deal for either goalie they might actually prefer Woll as his cap hit will be much less that Stolarz once he is extended

I have read that St Louis was one of the teams interested in Rasmus Anderson, Calgary’s RHD.
But Anderson is only interested in signing an extension with Vegas.
Could Leafs tantalize the Blues with Carlo another RHD?
Not sure what/ who would replace Carlo on Leafs defense bBut Kyrou would be a home run for Treliving.

Just add more cap space. Late and after Marner career he will regret Leaving the Leafs. He just couldn't take fair criticism he is really selfish and immature.using the F bomb on his bench when he only had 1 point in the last 4 games of the Florida Series.
He could have been the top scoring player in Leafs history . He just ran away from the greatest franchise in the NHL because he couldn't take criticism from fans
We saw players who could elevate at playoff time Rantanan Nylander and the biggest two Bennett and Marchand . Marner never brought it at playoff time
With Bennett Marchand and Ekblad back in Florida and them gunning for a 3 peat. The Leafs need to hit a home run in free agency.
I don't know who there number 1 target is but they better not miss on who they bring in.
Detroit have added Gibson and Montreal Dobson so those two teams are on the rise.

Maccelli is a great passer watch video on him he can make extremely difficult passes that go through two or three defenders and end up on tape of teammate. If he can’t strive on top line with Knies crashing net and Matthews scoring goals he never will have a breakout season . Really good opportunity for Maccelli .
Today they need to make 3rd line strong scoring line
Roy is solid Center
There is no room now for DOMI KAMPF JARNKNOK & REAVES This will give 10 million more in cap space giving them 20 million when they move those CONTACTS. Leafs can use a few draft picks back.

This could end up being bad for Marner if he was trying to put a gun to the Leafs head. The chances of Leafs beating Florida in this next series may be lower than the Panthers to win this next series.
If the Panthers win the Leafs are going to be forced to make a huge change to the roster and that would mean moving on from Marner.
If Florida win I'm sure the Leafs let Marner walk and with his money they sign two other players in his place the players they would sign number 1 would be Sam Bennett and the other would be Matt Duchene
Those two players would cost Toronto $12 million combined . With Duchene Who is 34 years old and had 82 points in regular season there is some risk as he only had 3 points in the 2025 first round series vs Colorado.
We should also remember when Sam Bennett left Calgary he almost had no value as he only put up 36,26,26,27,12 and 12 points in the 6 years in Calgary the first four seasons he didn't miss many games the last two seasons he only played 52 and 38 games .
So there is tremendous risk with both these players and every year Marner will put up 100 points . Also many of the goals that Bennett scores are garbage goals knocking in pucks just outside of the goal crease. The element that Bennett does bring is he is very physical with Duchene you would add extra year or two to knock down his cap hit .
I would offer Bennett 8 years @ $7 million and Duchene 5 years @ $5 million. It would almost be a guarantee that these two players together would outscore Marner but the physical play of Bennett would change the make up of the Leafs where as Duchene would be the better point producer of the two. Both of these players natural position is Center ice.
So if Florida take down the Leafs Marner is gone and for certain the first player they target is Bennett and Duchene would give Leafs a shorter term player who offers Leafs more cap flexibility

The problem for Robertson is the rising cap will make players like him obsolete these two players needs a fresh start STEEVES & ROBERTSON.
When the cap hits $113 million the Leafs will benefit more than most but it's essential they sign Tavares to a team friendly deal and sign MARNER and KNIES to 8 year deals
This would have all top 6 forwards signed to long term deals except MATTHEWS
MARNER $14 million x 8 years
MATTHEWS $13.25million
NYLANDER $11.5 million
KNIES $9 million x 8 years
TAVARES $6 million 5 years
These contracts look great in 3 years and in new cap world you just have to deal with Matthews

Nah marner has shown why he isn’t a 14 million dollar player in the last three games he was a non factor pretty invisible now he can still change that narrative but I’m gonna say I still think it’s more likely he walks and hot take I think it’s best for both parties.

Knies was a steal for sure. What about Hughes, Guenther, Power for example? Beniers and McTavish have been quite good. Can't look past the fact that Knies gets to play with Matthews and/ or Marner a lot. A lot of other guys on the draft board don't have that kind of talent around them.

You definitely have a weird way of giving players a shout out. Knies has become what this team has lacked for years. But what about McBobby? Guy has sighed a 1.35M X 2 contract and is on pace to almost hit 30 goals. What a steal this guy is. I don’t even think Bobby knew he’d take off like this. Made Tre look smart but I think he got lucky. This guy keeps up this pace or close to and the salary cap going up, he is gonna be in the neighborhood of a 5-7M dollar player per year. Enjoy this while we can at 1.35M another reason why Marner can walk is so we can keep guys like Bobby!

@Clarky He's really flying under the radar for sure. He also hasn't had the benefit of an entire season with Mathews and Marner. He was in fact demoted at times, and even left off the team out of camp. Mcmann definitely has heart as well.

All of us in our lives have been under pressure and we haven't performed our best and that was Nic Robertson
But he knows where and who he is playing with it makes him more at ease
I still think he can put up 20 goals plus he has that shot that only Matthews can shoot better
Once 3 lines are going Leafs are hard to beat.

The winds of change are obviously blowing hard again on Mackin Island as Robertson has rebounded to a 20+ goal scorer after previously being banished to the trade winds. He was being blown off the island, but now needs to be re-signed.

It will be interesting to see how Leafs drafting in 2025 was they must hit on at least one of their selections. On the flip side WES CLARK former head draft guy with Leafs must have felt like he died and went to heaven with his 13 selections in 2025 draft for Pittsburgh.
Dubas is already on thin ice in Pittsburgh it will be worth watching how many of these pics eventually contribute significantly to Pens. The Pens don’t have much in terms of prospects in the cupboard they haven’t hit on any free agents and other than the trade for Dumba have had quiet off season. Dubas hasn’t really picked a path to get back to a contender and Wes Clark doesn’t look like he will be selecting top 5 unless Pittsburgh get lucky.
Let’s keep a eye on Dubas and if the heat starts in Pittsburgh during 2025 season.

No thanks Bertuzzi doesnt move the needle. The most interesting question right now is what can Maccelli be with the Leafs. If you watch his highlight tapes the first thing you see is he is a fantastic passer. I’m talking sending a puck through 4 defenders and right on the stick of his teammate at the side of the net for a grade A chance at a goal.
His passing ability maybe better than Mitch Marner I don’t know what went wrong in UTAH but @ only 25 years of age when the new season starts in October this guy could be the steal of the offseason. He plays on Left Wing so he will play on second line to start camp

That’s what we have so far so Leafs still need 2 solid players and if they trade Domi Reaves Jarnknok and Kampf with their exsisting cap space they will have close to $20 million in space. Leafs could be a lot better next year if they add the right top forwards.
The 2 wildcards who could also contribute to the top 9 are Cowan and Robertson but we won’t know til we hit camp.

I think you have the 2nd line right . But Maccelli is a bit of a wild card what are we getting in him I hope it’s a lot more than Bunting was . This guy can pass but does he show up every night next season is last year of a $3million contact. so we see.
