Toronto Trades
Muzzin
Woll (AHL)
3rd Round Pick 2023

Anaheim Trades
Future Considerations

Ducks have the cap space, and really giving up nothing for 3 assets is a win win situation for Anaheim.

This will solve the cap problem for The Leafs, yes its a sacrifice and Muzzin would have to agree being traded as he has a NTC, but it will open the door to signing Sandin or packaging him with Kerfoot for something else.

The oilers paid for Duncan Keith, someone would pay for muzzin.

Sharks Trade
Meier
4th Round Pick 2023

Leafs Trade
Kerfoot
Sandin
Knies (Big-10)
1st Round Pick 2024

For Toronto this is throw everything in to get that Top 6 Winger to Complete The Top 6.

San Jose in a rebuild would look at this proposal as adding 2 Young Good Prospects in Sandin already an NHL Defenceman with Top 4 potential, Knies The Leafs Top Prospect, plus a 1st Rounder, Kerfoot fills this year maybe more on an expiring contract.

Minnesota traded Fiala for a less package and both Fiala and Meier are very comparable.

Toronto will have to figure out the Muzzin situation to fit Meier's contract to get under the cap to make it work.

I'd wait to see how the goalies hold up before throwing the future away like this.

2.) 14 Sep 2022 23:59:55
So if one player got a less package what makes you think that the leafs would pay more?

Toronto Trades
Muzzin
Woll (AHL)

Anaheim Trades
Future Considerations

Obvious Cap Dump for The Leafs and Muzzin would have to waive his NTC, but The Ducks have the Cap, they can either keep Muzzin for the next few seasons or flip him at the deadline, Woll has the potential to be a #1 in the future, so all in all this would help both Teams.

If Woll has 1st potential you need to bargain for something significantly more tangible than future consideration!

2.) 02 Sep 2022 22:17:07
I don’t want to start a future consideration trend lol if you have an asset in the case too Muzz is a decent player injury and contract suck but he’s not a bag of pucks either so I’d rather a concrete plan of a return.

3.) 03 Sep 2022 06:10:05
That would be great if Muzzin agrees!

But future considerations needs to be defined.
Perhaps a 3rd round pick?

Sharks Trade
Meier
Nieto

Leafs Trade
Kerfoot
Sandin
Simmonds
1st Round Pick 2024

Trade Breakdown.
Meier - Kerfoot, Sandin, 1st
Nieto - Simmonds

I would compare Meier to Fiala in a Trade Proposal, and San Jose would be getting a better package than Minnesota got when they traded Fiala to The Kings.

If you follow The NHL than you would understand why each Team would pull a Trade like this, so no need to explain myself.

Meier is arguably the best player on the Sharks after Hertl.
There is no possibility that San Jose trades him.
He is also due a hefty qualifying offer next summer that the Leafs can not absorb under their salary cap.

Anaheim Trades
2nd Round Pick 2023*

Toronto Trades
Muzzin
Simmonds
Woll (AHL)

*Ducks will choose one of the three 2nd Round Picks they have in The 2023 Draft, Boston's, Colorado's or their own.

Toronto looking to clear out Cap Space would clear out 6.5 million in this proposal, adding Woll would have to go The Ducks way taking on this much Cap.

Anaheim is in a good position having over 21 million in Cap, they can take advantage in this situation as well as improve there team and this proposal does that, Muzzin if he stays healthy is still a solid Defenceman, Simmonds an energy scrappy Vet on the 4th line or even depth makes Anaheim better, Woll in the proposal seals the deal.

Yes Anaheim isn’t looking to be great this year but they’re not gonna take on bad contracts terry zegras and drysdale are all up next year muzzin probably doesn’t move the needle for them.

2.) 22 Aug 2022 21:52:35
ANA would take that deal if Muzz didn't have a NTC. Kilingberg got the Taylor Hall treatment. Sign for one year as a deadline trade. Can't do that with Muzz.

3.) 23 Aug 2022 01:51:00
You fail to take into account Muzzin’s NTC.
He has to agree to any trade.
One of the reasons he chose to resign with the Leafs is that he and his wife are from Woodstock, On., so he and his family are home.
Uprooting his family to move back to California would be a big ask that I doubt he would agree to.
Next summer Muzzin’s NTC becomes a limited NMC allowing him to stipulate the teams he would or wouldn’t agree to be traded to.
At that time Leafs may try to move him as Bunting and Kampf will require new contracts and corresponding increases in salary.
Without moving Muzzin’s contract at that point Leafs stand to loose both players to free agency.

4.) 23 Aug 2022 05:43:45
@WB if bunting and Kampf have another season like the last one, they're gone regardless.

5.) 23 Aug 2022 13:35:23
The Ducks may do this. I don't think they are in rebuild mode, but more retool mode. Would Muzzin and Simmonds agree to go to Anaheim os the question.

As for Bunting and Kampf. If Bunting puts up another 20+ goal season and Kampf 15/ 15 type of season, Bunting will be in the $4.5-$5.5 range and Kampf looking at $2.5-$3M likely. They are as good as gone unless a much bigger contract than Muzzin goes.

6.) 24 Aug 2022 05:16:52
Agreed!
Money talks.
I also see Bunting at $4.5 - $5 if he repeats last years performance.
Kampf had 11 goals, 15 assists, 26 points last year.
Even repeating that performance should net him $2.5 - $3
So an increase of $7 - $7.5.
Muzzin being traded next summer when his NTC becomes a limited NMC would clear $5.65.
A shortfall of $1.5 - $2.5.
No one is sure how much the salary cap will increase for the 2023 - 2024 but season but it is likely to be at least $1.5 - $2 so Leafs might luck out and break even on those two but still have to replace Muzzin in the lineup.
I don’t think Victor Mete is the answer.

I was posting stuff like this last summer, the consensus was mcdavid and lucic for marner and Matthews was a no go from Edmonton.

2.) 11 Jul 2020 21:05:50
Lol randy not surprised you posted that stuff last summer.

3.) 12 Jul 2020 19:39:52
I don't think either team would do this.

4.) 13 Jul 2020 14:53:26
Not enough for McD.

Colorado Trades
Barrie

Toronto Trades
Brown
Carrick
1st Round Pick 2019

Solves the Top RHanded Defense for the Leafs.
Gives Colorado 2 NHL Caliber Players plus a 1st Round Pick.

You would need to add a better player than Brown for Colorado to accept the large downgrade from Barrie to Carrick.
